Adam n Eve recently opened a new boutique at Genesis for a line of high class fancy clothes. In order to celebrate the opening, sachi Vixen decided to put up two freebies — a polka dot dress for the ladies and polka dot shirt for the guys. Now when I saw the shirt the first thing that came to mind was disco. Unfortunately, I’m a bit too young to remember disco, so I decided to inspire myself with the closest thing I do know to ridiculous dancing and outfits — A Night at the Roxbury. More specifically, my speakers were thumping Haddaway for a half hour as I put this outfit together.
The shirt is available with two options, with or without collar, but both on just the shirt layer. As I explained in my last post, that means you need to wear it “tucked in”. But, to make up for that inflexibility, sachi did pack in both sculptie prim cuffs and a sculptie prim collar. The detail of the shirt, along with all of her new line, is nothing short of amazing. The price, of course, is unbeatable
So, after putting on the shirt, I had to find some pants that’d go high enough to not show my stomach. I thought of wearing the Arai jeans again, but they weren’t “disco” enough. After pondering for a bit, I remember something I’d found at GNUbie way back when I first started — a pair of bright red party pants. I visited the store again sure enough, there was a pack called Clothing from Forseti with contained those bright red party pants. In true GNU style, the pair was free and and had mod/copy permissions. Since the red didn’t fit too well with the gray shirt, I decided to tint the pants darker till I ended up wearing purple pants.
The merging of a tucked in shirt and pants tends to look a bit ugly, which is where belts come in handy. I’m wearing a gift from savvy avvy that is no longer available, but something similar is currently available as a gift at MNK (thanks to the tip from SL Free*Style).
At this point, I realized that Adam n Eve had another item just perfect for this outfit: gold shoes. Damen Gorilla offers one pair of shoes free to every resident under 30 days old. I already wore his M67s in another post, but his other options are the M72s. One of the multiple options available is “Sunshine”, which are the ones I’m wearing. These shoes are well crafted sculpties, just like the M67s, but a slightly more complicated style than their predecessor. They’re normally priced at 150L as result, which is higher than I’d like but still relatively low compared to most comparable shoes.
I realized I need to age the outfit ten years, so I decided to add a vest and chain. A few days earlier, Ryan pointed me to a free necklace at Inca Temple. Since most accessories are expensive, I dreaded what I would find but took a trip over and found a nice chain necklace, called the Dearing Heart necklace. It’s a simple but well done chain with a medallion saying Heartbreaker. What lady wouldn’t call me that wearing this outfit? Anyway, the necklace chain didn’t need resizing to fit around my neck, which was very awesome. It is pretty small, but scales up well so it should be alright for bigger guys.
Vests are hard to find in SL. Especially free ones. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that wasn’t part of a suit. If I have, it probably wasn’t free. In an act of desperation, I tried a search on SLExchange. I was surprised to find one freebie option, the Robin Vest from Quark Yifu. I tried to find the item in world at Quark’s store but was unable to do so. I’ll be the first to admit the vest isn’t anything special. But, its free, and the outfit was much better for it.
In summary, sachi : “I had way too much fun making myself look silly because of your shirt. I hope you like the result”
