Verce Suits at Soren Jaakobs
When I visited the Soren Jaakobs mainstore, Vaughan Vendetta, the designer, came by and we got to talking about his Verce suits.
“Sorry about the wacky colors,” he said, “They were popular on the Teen Grid.”
But I had no quarrel with the colours, except perhaps with the obscure naming of them: Siphico for jet black, Charn for a brick red, Locke for a mature brown, Indo for indigo, and then, curiously, Beige.
Whatever they’re called, they’re good colours.
“This is pretty weird/fascinating to me, by the way,” he said, “Second-Man inspired me to get into making clothes way back in 2007.”
“Before my time…” I said. “Ryan…”
“I remember reading Ryan’s blogs… It’s a treat to be blogged at Second-Man, brings back a lot of memories,” he said, as if an ol’ wrinkly instead of a recent uplift from TeenLand.
“I made them a lawng time agoo,” he said. And as he hopped and bopped about, I noticed he must have rushed to his shop — still wearing only socks on his feet.
These suits do seem unusually uncomplicated in their construction in these sculptie-dominated times. No protruding pelvic prims, no larger-than-life lapel attachments looming a short distance away from your chest, just good fabric texture and light and shadow. There are only two prims in the folder, and they’re optional: you can wear standalone trousers, or you can wear a trouser-layer or underpants-layer with prim cuffs. The jacket comes as a jacket- and shirt-layer garment.
The textures seem watercolour-like with lovely creases in the trousers and nice wrinkles in the jackets.
“My favourite jacket color,” Vaughan said, “is the beige. . . I like to wear it with jeans and throw a striped shirt under it. That usually works well.”
So it does. So it does.

Thanks!
Like you, I found no problem with the colors. I only wish the matching shirts shared common names with the suits.
Example: the suit is called “beige” but the matching Arlington shirt is sold as “sand”.
Mr. Jaakobs: don’t apologize! Those charming uniquer color names are an integral part of your marque. I hope that you stand firmly on them, own them proudly, emblazon them across the grid! Make it so that if a fellow finds himself at your competitors’ store he will ask to see a suit in “siphico”.
FYI, I have found a nice combination is to wear the Verce suit in Charn with the Arlilngton shirt in Sand, then wear Jeepers Creepers’ new Clifton shoes in maroon, which feature a tan saddle.
Nicely done, Mr. Oh! These do look quite nice. I must drop by and take a look around the shop.
It’s great to see teen grid designers “moving on up†to the main grid and bringing with them their own talents and creations! Many thanks to Vaughan and Mr. Oh for their kind words. If in some small way I’ve helped to encourage some by sharing what others have accomplished, I consider it time well spent. Surely all credit for inspiration is due to the creative people whose work I’ve shared.
Hi thanks you for sharing . These suits are quite good, stylish and attractive. I will love to have them.
