The Second Man in the Wall Street Journal

Andrew LaVallee of the Wall Street Journal has written an article about Virtual Fasion in SL. It appears in botht he online and print editions (cover of the Marketplace section.
Yours truely was inteviewed and have a few quotes in the article, including the funny closing line. The print edition has a cover shot of Second Style Magazine, and it is also shown in the slide show about halfway down the page on the olnine edition.
Now let the flame war begin over my “Wal-Mart” quote.

Since I know you don’t really read fashion glossies (like VOGUE), I know that you’re probably unaware that many of the glossies (incl. VOGUE) have multi-page ad spreads featuring clothing at Wal-Mart, especially the George ME line. (The George brand Wal-Mart acquired when it bought Tesco in the UK a few years back.)
And actually just last week there was some traffic in the trade rags about how Wal-Mart is trying to muscle into the same territory staked out by H&M (a U.K. based clothing retailer that’s akin to Target in price range, except the fashions have a London spin on it.)
Besides in the U.S. Target has been eating Wal Mart’s lunch on the fashion/design side of things, so I think they’re starting to fight fire with fire. A little anyway.
Now whether or not fashionistas shop for something at WalMart no matter how cute it looks is another question entirely. I wouldn’t want to poke that hornet’s nest with a ten meter cattle prod.

Actually Celeb, unless they were bought out or something, H&M should still be a Swedish company. As far as Walmart goes…I remember years ago someone got a Walmart makeover on House of Style (MTV). I never looked at that strore in the same way.
