Some of these things are not like the others

divinity_thermal.jpg…and yet they all belong.

Sometimes a guy just wants a new shirt or two.  It’s not that there’s nothing else to wear, or that the old ones suck now.  It’s just that there’s nothing else quite like a cool new shirt.  Tell me I’m wrong.  For today’s SL style outing, I’ve pulled together a double handful of new and newish shirts that might just do it for you, along with some great new hairstyles by Aemilia Case.

For starters, check out these thermal shirts by Zabitan Assia.  These have been out at FORM (and have been sitting in my inventory) for a little while now, but as usual I can’t get over the quality of the texture work and the subtlety of the imagery.  The design at left is called “Divinity,” and it prominently features an elaborate cross done in dusty, muted colors.

Below, left to right, you see “Warrior,” “Hooked” and “Oath.”  (“Hooked”–perhaps perversely–reminds me of a scene from “Hellraiser.”)  Some of the shirts have artwork on the back as well.

Zab has thoughtfully provided these shirts on all clothing layers, for flexibility and convenience.  Permissions are Modify / No Copy Transfer.  You can pick them up for L$75 each, and there’s also an attractive FORM-branded freebie shirt (not shown here) in the vendor display.  Get them at FORM at The Block (Varado 149, 141, 31).

Next up are some great graphic tees by Broder Kubrick.  Here I’m wearing the simply-named “Heart,” “Cassette” and “Guitar” tees.  These are just three of a variety of different designs you can choose from in the shop.  The fabric textures are highly respectable, the colors are strong and pleasing, and the artwork is nicely detailed and maybe just a bit quirky.

These too come on all clothing layers–perhaps less essential for a tee, but still it’s nice to have the choice.  Permissions are Modify / Copy / No Transfer.  They’re a little more expensive at L$150 each, but each style includes three different colors.  Available at BroGear (Harajukubox 200, 144, 22).

Incidentally last but certainly not least are some tees and a jacket by Disembodied Hand.  These are from Dis’ new venture Defectiva, where he’s clearly going in a different direction from that of his love child, Steam Powered Industries.  Left to right, I’m wearing the “Track Best” jacket, “Elecant” tee, and “Free Dub” tee.  I love “Free Dub” for its whimsy and Seventies styling.

These come on the jacket layer only, which leaves them less flexible, but “Track Best” is a jacket with integrated tee, so you wouldn’t wear it tucked anyway.  I tend to wear tees untucked, so this is a non-issue for me, but it’s worth noting.  Permission are No Modify / No Copy / Transfer.  The tees are L$75 each, and “Track Best” is L$100–although the artwork is more subtle, it’s more extensively detailed, including design work on the back.  These and other styles are all available at Defectiva (bel Drift 143, 232, 501).

You’ve no doubt been wondering about the hair–I did kind of promise up front.  These three styles are all new creations by Aemilia Case, who has just re-done all her styles with gorgeous new hair textures.  I’ve long admired the stylized, almost anime quality of Aemi’s hair.  Her new textures have more depth and detail, but they haven’t entirely abandoned stylization in favor of photorealism.

From top to bottom, the three styles shown here are “Mykal,” “Saxon” and “Rhodri.”  “Mykal” is an upswept style with carefully controlled spikiness.  The emo-boy attitude of ”Saxon” makes me smile, and it’s beautifully shaped, with realistic devil-may-care fringing.  “Rhodri” falls simple and straight from the off-center part, with more complex layering in back.

Aemi’s styles are all priced at L$150 each and available in a wide range of colors–I’m wearing Ruby, my personal favorite if I had to pick just one.  “Mykal” is available now; “Saxon” and “Rhodri” are scheduled to be out by the weekend, so they should be in the shop by the time you read this.  Pick them up at Philotic Energy (Imogen 56, 19, 56).

Hooray for tees! If SL didn’t misshape t-shirts on men so much I think it would increase the creativity of t-shirts…like from my latest clothing items.
