So I Tried to Look Preppy

Valiant and UBUWavie Haller of Valiant has been getting a bit of press recently, and for good reason. He’s a bit of the new kid on the block in men’s fashion. Thing is, the new kids get older and wiser and he’s been no exception.

As part of the aging process, Wavie’s decided to retire a few of his earlier designs and offer them as freebies. That’s how I got my hands on the Relax Blue Shirt I’m wearing. There’s currently also a pink v-neck t and a light gray cardigan in the freebie bag, available on the front counter at his main store. These shirts all have tiny flaws, ranging from slightly mismatched seams to blurry edges, but most aren’t noticeable unless you stare. The only big complaint I had was over the length — most shirts were short even on the jacket layer. I had to dig a bit before I found the Brown D&G Pants to go with them. They’re from Jonquille Noir on the 3rd floor at GNUBie, in a pack of assorted Men’s clothing.

Valiant Shirt and AmorePacific hairAs for the hair, that’s from a set of sims called AmorePacific. AmorePacific is an RL cosmetics company and brand from Korea. As part of their SL advertising plan, they’re created four sims chock full of amazing freebies ranging from clothes to hair to furniture. The only freebies specifically for guys seem to be some hair at the hair salon, Mise en Scène. If you have trouble getting there, use the teleport HUD they provide for their sims.

There were six hair styles here before, but I found that they were extremely painful to fit and reposition (they literally assumed you were a pinhead) so I never bothered mentioning them. This round, however, has at least 3 male styles (tell me if you find more) and all of them are very easy to fit. The one I’m wearing, which you can acquire after sitting in certain seats in the back for 10 minutes, is especially fun because it has grayish/white hair textures tinted darker to look black. It actually supports a wide range of colors, such as the brown I’m wearing here.

UBU Checkered Slip-OnsLast but not least are the shoes, from Urban Bomb Unit. These are essentially demos for their PornStar MultiColor Slip-ons, which retail normally at $495L. The shoes I’m wearing come only in a single color and in the checkered pattern . I happen to really like them — very nice use of sculpties. They were a group gift, but I’ve noticed that the group has switched from open joining to manual invite, meaning that you’ll have to click on a sign at the store and wait for your invite. That, or maybe if you know someone in the group, perhaps they can invite you in. I, by the way, left the group already since I only can spare a group or two at a time for getting freebies.

Oh, and the briefcase is a Valiant group gift. I don’t know if its still in the group archives, but I suspect that it isn’t. Maybe if you ask nicely, Wavie will add it back.

I love Wavie Haller’s Valiant line of clothing. They are all done well and the style is cool and unique.
    Highly recommended. =D
