Send the Cyborg Shopping
The Cancer-benefit event, Fashion For Life, has begun and will continue till the 22nd of March. Like all these fairs, it can get busy… and when it gets busy, there can be lag. But we can help…
Remove all your scripted attachments before teleporting in. And don’t wear anything with lots of prims; 50 people with complex hair and shoes can have quite an effect on performance. In fact, it’d be best of all if you wore no prims. I’ve taken to wearing one of my Cyborg skins. The above is from Curious Kitties and cost L$800 for just the skin although there’s a complete avatar for L$3000.
Another great one is AKA’s Cyborg Dark Cyan male which is available for L$475 at their main store. While you’re there, pick up the free extra pair of red cyborg eyes. You might also enjoy Grim Bros.’ Metalbot in purple, which you can buy at their display at FFL in Stieglitz for L$333.
I’ve also taken at times to wearing my SilverSurfer tribute avatar, albeit with hawaiian shorts on for modesty’s sake. There are plenty of alien skins out there that look striking with hawaiian shorts… even the demo versions! And it sure cuts down lag.
Taking off the AO and seeing yourself waddle can be quite a shock to the system. Better to have a cyborg waddle than you! But what I’ve taken to doing instead is using a hover animation that I bought, which keeps me in a hovering position as I walk… or rather glide. And with that in place, I go ahead and select “Always Run” … the undignified system run animation is swallowed by the hover … and I glide — almost as fast as flying but with the accuracy and control of walking. I recommend it.
For more information on lag and what you can do to fight it at busy events, see Harper Beresford’s great article of advice. For more information about Fashion For Life see the blog. Maybe your cyborg and my cyborg can do lunch.

Thank you for the coverage and the attention to low lag, though, in the end we never really had to combat it. The sims were spread out enough and everyone’s attention to the situation that we only once had to restart a sim off schedule. It’s funny how that works, hm? It was a pleasure seeing you on the sims, Mr. Oh. Thank you for your support
