On Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 12 PM SLT you can add the ultimate designer accessory to your ensemble:  The Designer.

Join the Shopaholics Relay for Life team in a spirit of good-natured frivolity on the beautiful island sim of Nuku Hiva in a landmark event where 10 or so of SL’s high profile designers and content creators will be date-auctioned to aid in raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

Dress in your best luau beachwear and bring your wallets to snag a a once-in-a-second-lifetime opportunity to spend a few hours getting to know your favorite designer personally!

Come on time! You never know who will show.  ;)

So far the following designers have confirmed their participation:
Shai Delacroix – Casa del Shai
Digit Darkes – X3D Apparel
Aradia Dielli – Perfect Image
Canimal Zephyr – Canimal

This was an absolutely fun event. Thank you to all the designers who made themselves available to be auctioned, the writers who blogged us*, the sim owner who allowed us to use his space and all the caring men and women of Second Life who came down to the beautiful island sim of Nuku Hiva with their wallets burning.

Everyone’s got a survival story. Each of us has a friend, family member, co-worker or acquaintance that has been taken or affected by cancer - if not ourselves directly. Hearing and telling these accounts serves to raise awareness and really drives home that none of us are immune to the pervasive nature of this disease.

This is the first time I’ve been involved with Relay for Life and it’s been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. My team mates are truly phenomenal men and women.

Ryan, I feel like, through today’s date auction and all the initiatives that are going on across the grid, we are really kicking a significant part of cancer’s ass! Hoo!

It’s worth reporting that this event raised L$1,105,037 for Relay For Life! That contributed toward a daily total of L$1,337,467, which is apparently some kind of record. :D
