Quilted Jacket and Ties at NY Couture

OLOURED PIXELS MAPPED in deliberate patterns rush down optical cable to my computer, then somehow leap across the short distance from the screen through curved lenses and into my eyes. Rods and cones fire synapses along optic nerves to parts of this wetware brain that I don’t understand. I smile.
And somehow, art has happened.
It was my friend Chris who sent me the landmark to Charles2 McCaw’s “NY Couture.” And when I looked through the shop, there were a few things that caught my eye, things I’d not seen in other shops, things of colour – complex things that were simple things: things of artistry.
First, a jacket made of crazy quilts, a collage of 19th century and contemporary examples of quilts. McCaw collects crazy quilts in RL and views them as works of art. He calls it his Technicolor Dream Coat. And it will make you smile. It comes as a two-part garment, jacket-layer top and skirt-layer bottom (one skirt for male avatars and another for female). It has to be said that the skirt layer required some adjustment on my av. Also included is a shirt-layer open-collared white tux shirt with onyx buttons, a garment I plan on wearing with other jackets as well. And for your convenience, Charles2 also threw two pairs of trousers into the folder, some blue jeans and some striped tux trousers. These are serviceable with the jacket, but I think most readers will prefer to wear their own as I have in the photograph above. Technicolor Dream Coat is L$199 and is no copy.
But the other item I could not resist was an eight-pack of flexi-prim ties called simple Flexi Tie Collection NY Couture. Two of the ties, “Flamingo” and “Bonheur,” are fairly simple recurring patterns in blue and grey respectively. Two more are pieces of retro pop culture, “Marilyn” and “Popeye.” But then there is also a masterpiece: Renoir’s “Dance at Bougival” and three more abstract pieces with bold colours and scribbly strokes: “Alligator Works,” “Dawn at the Ritz,” and “New York at Night.” Since they’re prims, these can be adjusted to fit the collar of most (buttoned) shirts. They come as chest attachments and the knot stays securely anchored to your neck while the rest of flat prim is free to wave around and you stride purposefully or dance around. Being prims, you’ll need to wear these with no jacket or an open one. The price is L$199 for the eight of them, and they are all set no copy permission, although “New York at Night” is also set to no modify.
NY Couture’s home store is in the Itame sim (185, 161, 97).
