Oxford Morning Suit by SF Design

oms1.jpgHigh on my list of nice problems to have is “too many options”. Sometimes a designer creates several different variations on a theme, and it’s hard to choose which one of the many options you like best. Such is the case with the Oxford Morning Suit from SF Design, the next installment in my survey of formal wear for the holidays. swaffette Firefly has made this outfit in a number of color choices, and it was hard to pick just one. I was torn between the one with the black jacket and charcoal gray pants with gold vest (pictured here) and a variation with black jacket and pants with blood-red vest and tie. But since I already have several black-and-red suits in my wardrobe, I decided to go with the gold vest. No sense getting stuck in a rut.

oms3.jpgThe set contains pants, jacket (with lower jacket on the skirt layer), gold vest (on the shirt layer) and white shirt with gold tie (on the undershirt layer). The design of this suit is outstanding, and the workmanship is top-notch. Check out the crisp pinstripes on the pants, the realistic shading of the wrinkles, and the detailing of the vest buttons – the bottom vest button is left undone, a subtle but nice touch.

If the suit has one flaw, it’s minor – the very top of the pants tends to show through the skirt layer in the back, so I had to “poof out” the skirt layer a bit to fix that. This isn’t so much the fault of the suit as it is a problem with the design of Second Life’s male avatars.

oms2.jpgSF Design advertises this as a “wedding tux”, but if the only time you ever wear a tuxedo is on your wedding day, you’re missing out on lots of opportunities to look great. Besides this version, the Oxford Morning Suit is available in the aforementioned blood-red variation, as well as one with a cream vest and tie, one with a burgundy vest and tie, one with royal blue vest and tie, one with red plaid vest and bow tie, and one with the jacket, pants, vest and tie entirely in purple; price per suit is a very reasonable $300L. As if all of that wasn’t enough, you can also buy the individual pieces of these suits separately at the SF Design store in Lotus, allowing you to mix and match to your heart’s content. So many options, so little time – a nice problem to have, if you can get it.

This is probably the first outfit that I bought in SL after quitting camping chairs and buying Lindens :-)
I only wear the jacket, a bit shortened, over a black sweater and with black pants (Yeah, that’s me – always in black).

I bought many, many other things in my Slife but still, this jacket is my favorite. Its my main outfit and i doubt that will change anytime soon. For me, Swaffette is one of the best designers of mens wear – you gotta love that store !!!

Not my normal style, but you can see that’s quality work. Nicely done!

I love the jacket; I went for a similar style to this for my first outfit.
