Outfit: Back In The Day…

I admit it! I’m a shameless child of the 80’s…

BackInTheDay_A.jpgMTV played music videos. Reality shows were unheard of. MTV played (OxO) music videos. Reality shows were unheard of. Everybody had hair up to there (holds hands well over head). Now that I think about it, that’s where the hole in the ozone layer came from…my sister spraying her hair into a wave of epic proportions.

Said sister, name of binary1oh gives the author a look affectionately known as ‘hairy eyeball’.

Back when the Transformers were cel-drawn animated cartoons and took over my afternoons. Long before computer animation and of course, our Second Life and all of its residents…

Ripped jeans that were airbrushed on. A worn button-down shirt over your favorite rock band or cartoon t-shirt. The mashed-up hat worn low. The weirdest collection of bracelets and jewelry I could find…

BackInTheDay_B.jpgBrought back so many memories while putting this together. Of course listening to a non-stop classic rock radio station didn’t hurt. And since when does 80’s = classic? OMG! When did I grow up?! The Author hyperventilates, nearly passing out but manages to grab a Jolt cola just in time.

Ok—here’s what I found whilst trying to keep my sister out of my inventory. She’s been known to steal my shirts only to give them back with lumps in them…XD.

Some of these things are freebies…and you’d be surprised at what you can do with them…

BackInTheDay_E.jpgThe hat/hair combination is a departure from my usual styles but it’s all binary’s fault. She saw them in a previous review and insisted that I try them. It’s the “Zombie Dreads (licorice) by Noam Sprocket at GrittyKitty (Koreshan 61, 23, 24) for 275 L. It comes with the hair attached and there are optional goggles. Heh…ok, I admit, the look fits. (Author is patiently ignoring twin who is pelting him with peanuts…).

BackInTheDay_G.jpgThe shoes are called “chuck’s” sneakers. they were some of the first freebies I got inworld.

The shirt is a white button-down by Barnsworth Anubis. It’s his Classic white oxford, part of a collection that comes with multiple shirts. This particular one was unbuttoned and untucked. It can be found at Barnes Boutique (Miramare 190, 150, 27) for 150 L.

Granted, the Transformers T-shirt is from the recent movie…but I haven’t found one of the ‘old-school’ ones just yet…besides that, it’s a freebie and it can be found at the official movie sim, Sector 7 (Sector 7 127,149,27). It comes packaged as part of a box of free shirts.

BackInTheDay_D.jpgThe first necklace that I’m wearing is the Anniversary of Second-Man created by Mhaijik Guillaume (I hope I spelled that right) created as a limited edition for our readers. The other necklace is the Adventure (men) by Polyester Partridge at Yummy (Tableau 98, 172, 0) for 180 L.

Being the little style nerd that I am, I wanted to do a little experimenting with the jewelry. The necklaces were giving me fits until I thought of attaching them differently. I attached them at different points then manuever them using the rotate and position tools under the edit menu. Geek moment has passed…

Remember those crazy rubber bracelets? And those ghastly charm thingies!? Those things were so hideous you couldn’t help but love them…Anyone besides me able to stretch them out and stack them to the elbows? Well? I’m waiting! Come on people! Take some pride in that obnoxious style…

BackInTheDay_F.jpgThe virtual thing looks much better than the real ones ever did in this case…my bracelets are the Nico in black by Fallingwater Cellardoor at Shiny Things (Shiny Falls 164, 177, 37) for 150 L and Skully Love Bangles in multicolor by Noam Sprocket at Gritty Kitty (Koreshan 61, 23, 24) for 100L.

The jeans are the Closed fly jeans,Torn, by Zoe Llewelyn, at Boneflower Designs (Temenos 150, 161, 47) for 75L.

All that being said…er written…whatever, I’ve discovered that, in SL, just like RL, if I find something I like, I’ll wear it. Doesn’t matter if it’s for the ‘other’ gender/wrong color/not in my usual style range…If it conforms to what’s in—that’s ok…if it doesn’t –even better… What was important to me then and now is that what I formed my sense of style then.

Like any sib worthy of the moniker, Brat, I mean binary1oh , took it upon herself to ‘help’ with the writing of this article. Actually, she threatened to take away my caffeine if I didn’t let her…

The dreads remind me of… Girl you know it’s Girl you know it’s Girl you know it’s Girl you know it’s *tape skipping at concert* That’s right Milli Vanilli all up in this piece. Too bad they were German and really bad at singing and were pretty much forced to give their Grammy’s back. I guess they could just blame it on the rain (yea-eahhh).

I probably scare myself much more than I scare you Ryan. Actually not probably, I guarantee it.
