Newish: Track suits (no, really!) & sneaks
I don’t know about you, but all that dressing up over Halloween took a lot out of me. As fun as it was, afterward I really just wanted to grab something easy and casual out of my virtual dresser drawer and throw it on. I reached in and, lucky for me, at the top of the pile I found these spiff new track suits by Donovan Brennen. Now, I understand if you’re smiling grimly and thinking, “Ahh, hmm, track suits…” with great skepticism. But hear me out, because really these just beg to be worn. You can choose from two different styles: “M.I.A.” in warm earth tones and “Zion,” in shades of blue and green. Each set includes a jacket that can be worn with long or rolled sleeves, plus matching pants. The jackets have sculpted turned-up collar and cuffs, and the pants have sculpted slouchie cuffs and a prim drawstring.
Jacket collar and pants cuffs are scripted for automatic resize via touch menu, but the sleeve cuffs are moddable, so you can resize them the old fashioned way: right-click and edit. (Someday, we’ll look back at conventional prim editing and reminisce about the good times.) Male and female cuffs sets are included, and you also get GearShift-branded boxer briefs in black and white. Permissions are M C T (non-scripted sleeve cuffs are M C T). L$350 each at GearShift (Varado 85, 161, 31). If you prefer, you can also buy just the jacket or pants in either style for L$200. I’m not usually a track-suit kind of guy, but I did have occasion recently to be peruse certain gym-wear and other clothing options, and these are way nicer than anything I’ve seen at Target, or Tarzhay as we say in the classy part of town.
The shoes are Superstars by Kwamey Pinion. These sneaks are beautifully textured and deliciously sculpted, although in another scathing condemnation of my aging PC I must point out that it took a l-o-n-g time for the sculpted shape to rez completely for me, and I still suspect I’m not seeing it at its best. This relatively minor frustration was more than offset by the fact that I was asked almost immediately where my shoes were from, the first time I stepped out in public, so I guess I’d better keep that landmark handy. Large and small starting sizes are included, and they’re scripted for size change via touch menu. 15 different styles are available, or you can opt for the Extended Pack of 18 styles, three available only in the pack. For the Extended Pack shoes only, a control HUD allows you to change the style of your shoes on the fly. Permissions are M C T. I didn’t see a demo in the shop, but there is a giant-size sample shoe on display for your inspection. The sales vendor also allows you to give the Superstars as a gift. L$399 a pair, or L$3499 for extended pack. Available at SOREAL (Quargar 216, 180, 756).
No… srsly…. I have been so depressed lately because designers haven’t been able to keep up with my shopping habits. I visit my favorite designers looking for new stuff, but I suppose there is a lull in new stuff coming out…
Anyways, today, I was at The Block, and I happened to find myself in Gearshift, and saw the Zion track suit. I squealed like a fanboy and snatched it up immediately!
Now I see it here on your blog, Ryan. Get out of my head! >_<
Hey, the best part of reading Ryans blog is not when he shows you all the stuff you never knew you needed (although thats good too) but when you find something and buy it just days before he does!
Or when you realize how bogged down his inventory is with stuff because you remember when both of these hit the shelves.
There isn’t a backhoe big enough to handle Ryan’s inventory. I’ve proposed ideas, but a Ryan’s Closet prototype has yet to be created.
Hmm, a backhoe…there’s an idea.
Somebody else (who shall remain nameless) recently suggested just deleting everything and starting over from scratch. Admittedly there’s a certain appeal there, but get thee behind me, Satan!
As for lurking about in Justify’s head, that’s absolutely, positively untrue. But you should see some of his sexual fantasies. Or, no, maybe you shouldn’t.
Thanks for the link to those sneakers…they are very cool…though I too am in need of a new graphics system…for the first 30 or so seconds I thought I’d bought small boats for my feet…
