New(ish): The Academic @ Cattiva e Cattivo

In my personal experience I noticed that Second Life fashion is often either extremely casual or extremely formal. But let’s say you have a reputable job in Second Life, for example in education or in business. Both of those sectors have ties to the real world, and often real life business relations don’t really appreciate if you show up in urban gear whether it’s a virtual world or not. A formal suit might be exaggerated though. In those cases the Academic is a perfect alternative.

C_C_AC_Obsidian___Collar.JPGThe Academic by Cattiva e Cattivo is a middle-of-the-road blazer outfit. It looks professional enough to wear while teaching your students, but if you’re so inclined it also looks everyday enough that you can wear it at your home. In fact, I think certain combinations would even work in a dance club.

The outfit comes packed with choices. For 350 L$ you receive 8 shirts, 4 flexi ties, 4 blazers, 2 pairs of jeans with prim cuffs, 2 pairs of shoes, a pair of socks and a prim collar. This ensures that everyone can wear this outfit in the way they prefer.

C_C_AC_Steel___Tie.JPGLet’s look at some of the textures first. Scoping around the outfit I do not find any disturbing seams. This is definitely a plus in SL, since looking at certain people I sometimes wonder if the game is called Second life or Seamed Life. The shading looks quite well done also, at least in the places it’s used. The front and back of the blazers look great because of this, but the sleeves seem to lack just that little bit that would have made it perfect. The flexi ties have a glossy effect textured on, which I think is mostly a matter of taste. In general I’m no fan of glossy fabrics, but the effect is tastefully done in this case.

The textures on the jeans look extremely detailed and even look good on the crotch area. I absolutely love Cattivo’s jeans textures, I don’t often wear other pants no matter what outfit I put on. The shirts are properly textured as well, but you have to keep in mind they only come in one layer if you ever wish to combine them with other clothes. Not that it’s a big deal with all the options this outfit already gives you.

C_C_AC_Tawny_Shoes.JPGWhich brings me to the shoes. You receive two pair with the outfit. They both use the same shape but one is textured in a tawny suede, the other is textured in a glossy black. Personally I prefer the tawny pair since I don’t like shiny shoes.

The shoes are quite nicely textured again, you can see every individual stitch in the leather. The shape is completely prim-based. Even though it’s a nice shape, we’ve been so spoiled rotten with great sculptie shoes in the past months that I must admit I don’t even wear these. Though they’re pretty much the only non-sculptie pair I still wear at all, so it’s not a criticism at all.

C_C_AC_Ochre___Rust.JPGWhether you’re looking for a professional outfit that you can wear to explore the virtual world, or for a casual outfit that you can wear without shame when you run into Real World colleagues and family in Second Life, The Academic has a combination fit for anyone.

The outfit is still priced at a discounted 350 L$ at the time of writing, though Lissa has made it clear that in a relatively short time it will change to 450 L$. All the parts are transferrable so you can buy it without problem as a gift for a friend. One minor warning, if you’re not good at adjusting prims the prim collar could be a little hard to fit on bigger shapes.

Y ou can buy it in any of Cattivo’s store locations. Her main store is located in the Annapurna region (SLUrl).
