New(ish): Overcoats @ SiniStyle Design

sylar_front.jpgsylar_full.jpgIf you’ve been reading for a while, you may remember that Krius Misfit created one of my favorite coats, from relatively early in my SL life and to this day, the Nomad Trencher.  Now he’s gone and done it again, with not one but two recent additions to his collection of gritty outerwear.  Inspired by characters from “Heroes” and their attire, Krius’ new Sylar “BoogeyMan” and Peter “5 Years Gone” coats aren’t just an “as seen on TV” gimmick–these are serious, sophisticated designs, not to be missed.

sylar_front_close.jpgBad guys are always more fun, so let’s start with Sylar.  Krius says in his blog that he spent about a week on the “BoogeyMan” coat, and it really shows.  The highly realistic coat front detailing includes oversize buttons, wide collar and flap pocket.

sylar_back_close.jpgIn addition to the jacket, pants and shirt (for puffier sleeves) clothing items, the Sylar “BoogeyMan” coat includes prim attachments for the hood, cuffs, built-up shoulders, and flexi coat tail.  Large and small size attachments are included for ease in fitting larger and smaller avatars.  The various prim fittings bring a lot of richness to the design.  The hood in particular has a soft drape that makes it feel like it’s part of a single garment, not simply stuck on as an attachment.

peter_front.jpgAnd now for the good guy (as far as we know).  Inspired, Krius says, by ”badass” Future Peter, the Peter “5 Years Gone” comes in what Krius calls “Episode Brown” and black.  Both colors are provided in the pack.

peter_back_close.jpgEach coat is made up of jacket, pants and shirt (for puffier sleeves) clothing items, plus large and small sized prim attachments for the hood, shoulders, cuffs and flexi coat tail.  As with any such complex garment, proper placement of the prim components is essential to achieving the proper look.  Having the option of starting either with large or small attachments is great, especially for an item with unisex potential, and in addition the prim attachments are moddable for size.

peter_full.jpgpeter_front_close.jpgThe Peter coat is a little longer and leaner than the Sylar coat, with tails that fall to the knee rather than mid-thigh and a simpler, more traditional collar.

Both coats are priced at L$500 (and remember that Peter “5 Years Gone” includes both black and brown coats…I’m just sayin’).  Get your superhero geek on at SiniStyle Design (Hydes 234, 239, 212).

Photographed on location in the Silverscreen sim (Silverscreen 131, 94, 33), now showing “Live Free or Die Hard.”

Beautiful coat! Looks fantastic on you as well ^^

Looks good as usual but… does this one play nice with other clothes ? Like can i wear a shirt and tie(why not) with it ?

I ask this because most long coats may look great but they are a use alone item, and for me at least it´ s been hard finding a decent coat that i can wear with other clothes… shirt, tie, t-shirt… whatever. :)

I second Anarka. Also, looks like there is no “open” version of the coat, only the “closed” version. Honestly, I’d prefer a pack with both options instead of a pack with two colors - knowing that I would only wear one color anyways. Gotta say that both look damn cool though. Btw, will there be a Claire outfit, too ? :-)

    Marcus:

Actually, Trinitee Trilliam, Krius’ partner-incrime :P, has created Claire and Jessica coats (Trinitee’s workmanship, like Krius’, is amazing, so you won’t be disappointed!) Her store is Refuge and you can see her coats and more cool stuff in her blog:

Another note… Krius has made “Petrelli” hair fashioned after Peter Petrelli… looks awesome! (I’ve been meaning to check it out, cuz I love wearing boy hair!) Check it out in his blog:

Takeshi - you are too kind, sir. All credit goes to Krius. Okay, I take credit for the accessorizing, but that’s all. ;)

Anaka, Marcus - you are correct, there is no open version for these coats. Krius’ earlier Trenchers do include open versions that can accommodate a shirt with tie. Another awesome coat that works well with shirt and tie is Govindira Galatea’s Soviet military overcoat, available last time I checked in three colors.

Posy - by the time I saw Krius’ new “Petrelli” hair on his blog, I had already taken pictures for this layout or I’d have been wearing it for sure! I don’t have a lot of black hair in my inventory, but Jesse’s “Drift” style was just the look I wanted.

Ryan… your choices in locations, props and accessories for your photo shoot is impeccable as usual… including the hair… nice and tousled like you’ve been chasing bad guys :P Makes me want to reach in and muss it up some more!

I love my soviet coat, and yes it plays wellwith other combinations. :)

I have a Phantom Stranger and i can use it with other combinations of shirts but… the opening is to narrow for ties… Still its a great outfit.

If anybody knows of any other great coats not already mentioned, tell us about ‘em here! I might need to go shopping…again.

Nice location, Ryan. These Heroes releases from Krius have been a feast for the eyes.

Uhmm.. Posy, I was actually kidding with the Claire remark. Since the iconic Claire outfit would be the cheerleader uniform and I am a non cross-dressing guy… well, you get the picture. :-)

And Ryan: speaking of coats. I dunno if it was mentioned here before but if anyone is looking for a coat that is open enough to display clothes underneath , I highly recommend you visit “Cytranized Designs”. They have a absolutely great coat that comes in several colors. I own it in black (Yeah, big surprise there, I know :-) ) and i absolutely love it.
