New: Wearing the green @ Gaslights Emporium
The wearing of green has been associated with the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day since the 19th century, and the tradition is followed today not just on the Emerald Isle but around the world. Vincente Shepherd’s Victorian steampunk stamp is clear on his new “Shamrock Collection,” just released at Gaslights Emporium. In its entirety, the collection is a complete ensemble, including clothing and accessories, so if you have no fear of a suit that is very green indeed, you may be able to outfit yourself from head to toe in one quick stop in Port Babbage.
The St. Patrick’s Day Green Shamrock Suit includes wool jacket with flexi tails, wool trousers, simple white formal shirt, shamrock-pattern waistcoat, and prim bow tie. The suit’s green is the bright, fresh color of raucous meadows in spring–no quiet forest glen or moss-covered stones here. Although stylistically similar to some of Vincente’s other, more restrained attire for Victorian gentlemen, this suit is set apart by its vibrant color and the elaborate, almost baroque pattern of the cloth used for the waistcoat, both front and back.
Simple black shoes would certainly suffice here, but the atmosphere after all should be a celebratory one, not at all subdued. Vincente his re-worked his black suede gentleman’s shoes in green to match the suit perfectly. The St. Patrick’s Day Green Suede Shoes are simple pointy-toed dress shoes with heavily stitched two-tone suede uppers, skinny black laces and a low heel.
The Ornate Green Pocket-Watch is both beautiful and functional–a touch opens and closes the flip cover, which has a stylized floral design worked in metal and glass, and the watch is scripted to keep SL time. A simple chain suspends the watch discreetly from a jacket pocket.
Vincente’s canes are always imaginatively designed, and the Gentleman’s Shamrock Walking Cane is no exception. A simple rounded palmrest tops the cane, but beneath the palmrest, delicate wrought-iron filigree outlines a shamrock in stylized scrollwork. The shaft of the cane is decorated with traceries of vines and leaves, only really visible upon close inspection. Three different canes are included, one unscripted and two that include different mixes of AO stands (as seen in the pictures accompanying this article) designed to work with your cane.
Permissions on all items are Modify/ Copy / No Transfer. The Gaslights Emporium Shamrock Collection is priced at L$1000 for the set, a savings of L125 over the items if purchased individually (the suit is L$400, the shoes L$275, the watch L$250, and the cane L$250).
Available now for purchase at Gaslights Emporium (Port Babbage 123, 207, 27).
