New: Urban Tactic boots @ TESLA

urban_tactics_red_front.jpgSo much for putting up more than one post while I was away on vacation.  It seems there’s never quite as much “spare time” as I think there will be.  What is up with that?  I had good intentions, but you know what they say…the road to hell and all that.

I learned about the new Urban Tactic boots by Tesla Miles just before leaving on a jet plane, almost literally at the 11th hour.  Although I took these pictures the night before I left and carefully stashed them on my handy-dandy USB drive, I never got any further than sorting and cropping them.  No actual writing took place, and don’t get me started on the internet access problem.  Why do hotels charge for wi-fi?  Because they can, I suppose.  And I’m lazy, not to mention cheap, so rare indeed were the times when I toted my laptop down the block to the bar that offered free wi-fi–and excellent Bloody Marys and Red Snappers, I might add.  Well hey now…I was on vacation, after all.  ;)

urban_tactics_red_back.jpgTesla’s new boots are fully sculpted and feature completely hand-drawn textures.  The leather grain and sturdy stitch detailing is impressively realistic.  The baked-in highlights are subtle and even, not highly directional.  Glossy isn’t easy to pull off in SL, and high gloss seems to be highly problematic.  I’ve seen otherwise beautifully designed shoes with baked-in highlights that were in my opinion too specifically directional.  The result was (for me, at least) that the shoes really only looked “right” when viewed at a certain angle.  The even highlighting on these works from pretty much any perspective.  Equal attention has also been paid to the physical detailing–note the nice touch of the heavy leather loop in back.  The heavy prim laces are untied, with loose flexi ends that swing around as you walk.  In Tesla’s own words: “Perfect for the tough guy, or the clueless but cute!”  :)

Like any number of other prim accessories I’ve seen recently (this appears to be all the rage right now), these boots are scripted for automatic resizing.  Just click on the boots–on a script-enabled parcel, of course–and adjust the size using the pop-up menu.

Tesla’s Urban Tactic boots are available in Blue, Brown, Red and Black.  You can take them home for L$399 for a single color, or L$1000 for the four-pack of all colors.  A demo is available in the shop.  I’m confident that my aging graphics card doesn’t reveal these boots in their full glory, so I encourage you to drop by and try the demo.

Available at TESLA (Tesla 42, 79, 54).

I need these. Now! I will so rock these - even as a cute chick, as opposed to a “tough guy” ;)

Yaaaay Tesla for giving men footwear to make their feet happy! Hopefully, there’s more men’s footwear in the Tesla creative handbag! Thanks for your efforts Tesla and your report Ryan.

Tesla also has some very nice sculpted men’s oxford shoes, but these boots are a HUGE advance. She mentioned on her blog the fun she had creating them and the new techniques she learned. She also hinted at more good stuff in the works, so stay tuned!
