New: Track jackets @ Back and Forth

track_jacket_red_front.jpgI don’t run, either for health or for pleasure.  Well, okay, I did the track-and-field thing in junior high, but that was, um, a few years ago.  But I do think a handsome track jacket is the perfect antidote to mildly chilly weather that doesn’t actually require a heavy coat, and it can help a guy look really snappy.  Designer Donmai Frederick of Back and Forth has released several great outerwear designs over the last several weeks, and his new track jackets live up to my admittedly high expectations.  They feature a classic silver zipper, front slash pockets, ribbing at waist and cuffs, and turned-up prim collar.  The set includes jackets in black, blue, brown, dark blue, red, and white, along with two shirts (in black and white) that you wear to give the jacket the proper shape–check out how the sleeves look slightly puffy until the cuffs pull in tight to the wrists.  This is wonderful attention to detail that you don’t see everywhere, but Donmai’s design work is impeccable.

track_jacket_white_back.jpgCheck out how the zipper teeth continue from the jacket garment right onto the front edges of the prim collar–awesome!  The prim collar is easy to adjust for precise alignment so the collar lines up seamlessly with the jacket.  I see that the red jacket photo is one taken before I had adjusted the collar to my liking; blame me for that, not the designer.  The fabric texturing is nicely realistic and not overdone at all.  The wrinkles at the elbows and ribbing detail are especially convincing, and Donmai’s seams continue to astonish me.

These jackets are priced at just L$300 for the set (all colors are pictured below).  A version for the ladies is available separately.  Available at Back and Forth (Metabirds 192, 71, 26).  Clothing items are upstairs in the store.
