New: This Week in Men’s Fashion: April 15-21, 2007
April 22nd, 2007 at 04:31pm Catero Revolution
Due to the ton of stuff I had to do all through this week I didn’t really get time to publish this segment yesterday in the regular Saturday slot. If anyone noticed I hope all is forgiven. Maybe the quality of the products seen within will help in melting away any animosity being harbored.
Everything happens for a reason and, from my point-of-view, the delay gives me an opportunity to support my Relay for Life team by announcing the recent release of Last Call’s silent auction item - a one-of-a kind gown to benefit cancer research. Additionally, I’ll give you the rundown on other limited editions designed by team members and supporters of the Shopaholics.
Releases at: The Body Politik Cake Digital Dragon Designs FNKY! Million Dollar Skin Lab Yummy Announcement: Shopaholics Relay for Life limited editions
The Body Politik by Maximillion Grant
Casual Comfort Jeans (100L each)
The well-worn denim trend just got more comfortable with 5 tints from Maximillion Grant in blue, grunge, black, brown and tan. The tenacious fabric seems to have stood the test of frequent wear as shown in the speckled texture, the slight discolouration and the areas paling along the leg and rear panels. The neutral brown and tan pairs are a nice change from the usual blue as they embody a sense of naturality. When wearing, please ensure that your belt buckle is secured, as companions may find it difficult to keep their hands to themselves.
Available @ Eventide South (59, 212, 35).

Cake by Stumbelina Ophelia
Sunset Blvd. Jeans (150L each or 400L/5-pack)
Echoing the illustrious Norma Desmond’s famous quote, “All right, Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close up”, these jeans are sure to get you some notice that’s up close and personal. With softly worn leg patches and knees that have been frayed straight through the fabric at the knees, these denims come in 5 different wash tints: faded blue, aqua, blue, faded black and black. Though the jeans are mod each jeans pack graciously comes with loose and skinny pant versions. The denim texture has a nicely worn, grainy surface. Males, females or avies that switch between genders can have their Cake and eat it too, as the mid-level height of the waist and the overall design make the pants suitable for men and women alike.
Available @ FNKY Cake Island (128, 45, 25).

Digital Dragon Designs by Ninja Petion & Zoey Pinkdot
Dragon Chillin Sneakers (400L each)
A meshed sneaker that’s perfect for the court, street or track. Detailing considerations allow the shoe to reflect a true-to-life feel. The backtab, sole grips and interior lining, in particular, are eye-catching components. The shape and form of the ankle-hugging shoes have all the visual anatomy of a real pair of aerodynamic cross-trainers. In this reviewer’s opinion, they are more successful at presenting a quality and realistic-looking athletic shoe than several of the real world athletic shoe companies offering similar products in-world. “Chillin” comes in 12 colors: black, white, gray, blue, yellow, green, red, turk (aqua), brown, peanut (orangey-brown), purple and burgundy. Apparently, there are also “Sidekick” sneakers in-store but I wasn’t able to find them. They offer the same form and colours as the “Chillin” sneakers, but come with a single horizontal colour swipe along the sides of the shoes.
Available @ Digital Dragon (124, 176, 22).

FNKY! by Funk Schnook
Men’s Loafers (600L each or 3,000L/style pack)
Put a little spring in your step with freshly shined dress shoes from Funk Schnook. “Styles” are offered in 4 different designs: plain, buckle, laced and penny loafers. Each style variation offers 7 colour options: black, white, brown, tan, cream, red and blue - 28 shoes in total. The reflective surface of the shoes have been scripted with 3 levels of glossiness to aid in reducing what Funk calls the “white stripes” effect. Small, medium and large versions of each shoe have been included in the packs to accommodate varying foot sizes. Do I even have to say anything about how insanely realistic these look?
Available @ FNKY Cake Island (128, 45, 25).

Million Dollar Skin Lab by Hybel Koba
Male Skins (900L each)
A follow-up to MDSL’s earlier lot of photosourced male skins, we now have two more facial hair options: a trimmed beard close-cropped to the mouth and a thin-stripped soul patch. The skins have a modifiable tone with the ability to go from light to dark tan - as are all of Kobel’s current products. Each skin set comes with both hairless and hairy chest versions. Skin demos that were previously priced at 20L are now 2L. And for all those who are seriously strapped for cash, Hybel Koba also provides free male skins collected from his wanderings around the grid.
Available @ Ifrit (254, 19, 30).

Yummy by Polyester Partridge
Adventurer Necklace (180L)
In a collection that’s primarily geared towards female audiences Polyester offers a unisexy style aperitif for everyone’s enjoyment. The necklace is a boho chic piece - an intricate silver link chain hung with eclectic charms. The neck wear is reminiscent of a personal memento strung with a few knick-knacks picked up from one’s travels. A coin from the mission to Tunisia, a tiger claw from the safari in Bangladesh, a fragment of wood from the pilgrimage to Jerusalem last year. And there’s still room for more. Both men’s and women’s versions are included in the pack. The designer can be IM’d for transferable versions.
Available @ Tableau (97, 177,17).

Announcement:
Shopaholics Relay for Life Limited Edition Items
Ryan and I are involved in fundraising initiatives for the ‘Shopaholics for a Cause’ and ‘Shopaholics for a Cure’ fundraising groups in the Relay for Life campaign in SL. As such it’s important to support the drive and keep readers abreast of opportunities to get involved. Several designers associated with our team have created limited edition items for purchase that will benefit the research efforts of the American Cancer Society. Many of the items are geared towards the ladies, but that doesn’t mean that female counterparts can’t be encouraged by the men to drop a few Lindens or that men can’t selflessly purchase a gift for a special lady on behalf of a worthy cause.
Current limited edition items available include …
- Calla by Haedon Quine and Tigerlily Koi: Tons of exclusively-textured hair for men and women.
- Earthtones Boutique by Lucas Lameth: “Lace of Love” necklace and earrings.
- Gurl 6 by Six Kennedy (1): “Cherish” hair with tiara.
- Gurl 6 by Six Kennedy (2): “Rally” hair with sports visor.
- Last Call by Ginny Talamasca: “L’Unique” one-of-a-kind gown auction.
- Brutal Gear by Nex Brennen: “Highwayman” Jacket in Brown.
- Nicky Ree’s Boutique by Nicky Ree: “The Dynamic League” purple superhero costume.
Items benefiting the American Cancer Society may be marked with the Relay for Life logo.
