New: Thermals and cords @ Moonshine

January 17th, 2008 at 04:23pm Ryan Darragh

cross_thermal.jpgJust out at Moonshine by designer Shelly Toonie are these comfortable Men’s Thermal Shirts.  They’re completely casual, of course, but a step above a lazy Saturday morning.  With their muted organic colors and detailed artwork, these are perfectly appropriate for a (somewhat) dressy Friday evening, out with friends at your favorite local watering hole.

28_thermal_full.jpgThese finely-ribbed thermals come in five different designs: Cross (at right), 28 at left), NativeDragon and Skull (apologies to Mr. Oh).  The fabric color is slightly different for the various designs, running from slate-blue to charcoal and even a deep, dusty maroon.  Detailing in the fabric texture gives them a pleasantly rumpled look at waist and elbows, but overal the look is appropriately smooth and sleek, not disheveled like you slept in them and just rolled out of bed.

Provided on the jacket layer only, so wear them untucked or not at all.  Attractively priced at L$75 each.

slate_cords.jpgAlso recently released are these Men’s Corduroy Pants.  Shelly has used subdued colors here as well–Black, Brown and Slate.  The corduroy ribbing is clearly defined without looking like a test pattern, and design elements like the front fly and pockets are nicely done.  Something in me wants to see a bit more detail in the hint of pocket-corner rivet, but that’s probably asking more of the fabric texture than it can give at reasonable resolution.  L$85 a pair.

All available at Moonshine (Silver Lake 38, 206, 39).

Great looking stuff at painless prices. I’m heading over there this afternoon! It makes me a little sad though that some of my best shirts can’t be worn with an open jacket because they’re only available on the jacket layer themselves.

A lot of designers provide shirts, sweaters and the like on both jacket and shirt layers, sometimes even the undershirt layer, and often with an underwear-layer extension for low-rise jeans or pants. Kudos to designers who already do this, and I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing more join their ranks. :)

Love Shelly’s work! She does an awesome job and always has an eye for detail and design. Oh, did I mention she is always affordably priced? You can’t go wrong at Moonshine.

Shelly is a great designer with an eye for style, and her prices are the best. I’m alwaays looking for what new stuff creates.
