New: The Casual Sophisticate @ Cattivo

Cattivo got a new (and bigger) store at Second Guy Clothiers earlier this week. To celebrate that Lissa made her new outfit available in that store only for a week. The outfit, called The Casual Sophisticate, is supposed to be the start of her spring collection and will be available in all her stores once the week is over.

The outfit comes with a dark red V-neck t-shirt, a charcoal unbuttoned dress shirt in two styles, striped khaki corduroys, and a pair of Lissa’s Oxford shoes in chocolate. Prims are included for the pant cuffs and the cuffs on the shirt with rolled up sleeves. Since they’re all single prim items, they’re easy to resize and reshape to fit you.

One of the things I like about Lissa is that she takes all criticism on her outfits and uses it to improve her items. Last review I did I mentioned that the shading on the shirts was only used in the front and back, and that the sleeves and sides were quite bland. On this shirt however the shading and highlights go everywhere they’re needed. Also, I can’t find any seams on the shirt, no matter how much I zoom around it.

On the pants, the seams are very nicely worked into the thin, striped pattern. The soft colour of the pants contrasts well with the red belt and t-shirt, and with the darker shirt and shoes. So as far as the textures are concerned, I really like the outfit.

Which brings me to the prim parts of the outfit. As I said before, I like that they only use one prim, which makes them relatively easy to fit onto your shape. However, as more and more designers switch to sculpties, Lissa stays loyal to the standard Second Life prims.

Is this bad? I don’t really think so. However, it does make the cuffs on pants and shirts look more rigid and less real than other pants and rolled sleeves I’ve been wearing lately. That’s purely comparing with other items though. The prim parts of this outfit don’t look bad at all.

Also, as with all prim pant cuffs really, the line where the prim ends and the pants layer commences is quite visible most of the time. The striped pattern still helps to mask it a little, but the contrast between prim and cloth is still there.

If this really bothers you, you can always take off the cuffs. I once spoke about these with Lissa, and back then she mentioned she mostly added prim cuffs to her pants for those people who get bugged pants. I think everyone has had that happen a few times, where the cuffs of cloth pants suddenly take on weird shapes or get coloured in your skin colour. Or at least, I’ve encountered those bugs regularly myself. Prim cuffs are one way to avoid those things from happening.

The outfit costs 200 L$. As with all Lissa’s outfits, it’s available with modify and transfer permissions. All items are set to be no-copy.
