New: Messenger shorts @ Stellar Designs

March 19th, 2007 at 06:15pm Ryan Darragh

messenger_shorts_green.jpgLate last week at Stellar Designs, I noticed these spiff new Messenger Shorts from designer Lexi Morgan.  These are perfect for the warmer spring weather that’s starting to sneak up on us, at least in some parts of the world.  They come to about mid-calf, so the cuffs won’t get caught in your bicycle chain as you zip around town on important business or get wet when you go surf-walking at the beach.

The plaid pattern is eye-catching without being too busy, and makes for a nice change of pace from the solid colors shorts always seem to come in.  I think these look great with a simple tank, tee or other casual shirt and sandals or sneakers–you may have other great ideas, so feel free to innovate.  Although if you manage to make these work with anything involving a bow tie, I’ll be surprised and impressed.  And I’ll want to see pictures.  ;)

messenger_shorts_blue.jpgThese shorts include a casual belt with buckle, a nice bit of extra detaling.  There are no pockets on these, but do you really need them?  What are you carrying around, anyway?  There are some great cargo shorts available if you simply must have pockets–check out Desert Moon Clothiers and Last Call, just for starters.

messenger_shorts_ad.jpgLexi’s new Messenger Shorts come in Blue, Green, Beige, Grey and Red.  They’re priced at L$125 a pair and are available now at Stellar Designs (Stellar Isle 197, 125, 22).

Hey Ryan! Thanks for the kind words and I’m glad you like the shorts :)
p.s. I bet Blaze could make them work with a bowtie. lol

If anybody could, it would be Blaze. I’d pay cash money to see that! :D

I hate it when knee pants get mislabelled as shorts. But I guess I can’t fight regress.

In any event, I’m afraid these just seem like an application of current fads, and don’t do anything for me.

Well, to each their own :)
Coming from someone living on the beach their entire life, yes, we do refer to these “knee pants” as longer shorts.
I wouldn’t necessarily call it a fad in my case. It’s what I am use to seeing men wear for the warmer weather months (and happen to like it).
