New: Men’s flexi style @ Diversity Hair

March 12th, 2007 at 06:08pm Ryan Darragh

complex_front.jpgI have a fairly decent selection of hairstyles in my inventory, but I’m pretty sure I had never actually visited Diversity Hair until last week.  That’s when I saw the release announcment from design Aleri Darkes for the new “Complex” style for men and decided to check it out.  (I find it can be difficult these days, with so many errands that involve checking out specific items, to drop by a shop just to see what they’ve got.  For sake of time and efficiency, I really do rely on announcements from designers.  It may be more efficient, but you know what?  It’s not as much fun.)  This is a casual, somewhat messy style that looks like it was originally cut short but has grown out nicely and still works.  I wish my RL hair looked this good after growing out for a while.  It’s long enough on the sides to cover your ears, and one of the front strands falls down over your right eye.  This is a great style for surfing, skateboarding, bumper cars–any casual weekend outing.

complex_back.jpgThe flexi bits in the back have the same kind of flip at the ends that my RL hair has when I let it grow out.  This might actually look more like my RL hair than any other style I’ve tried.

The hair is moddable, so you can adjust it for size and fit on your avatar (and copiable, so you can make a backup copy before messing with it).  If you’re not experienced at or comfortable with modifying complex objects like prim hair, a handy notecard is included that provides head sizing instructions, so you can adjust your own avatar’s head to fit the “out of the box” hair.  I didn’t actually try this, thought I thought it might make for an interesting experiment.  My guess is that this would give me the same head dimensions as the model in the ad art below, but that’s just a guess.  It’s worth noting here that the hair comes with “full bright” set to on.  I turned this off as I think hair looks a little odd when it appears to glow in the dark…not sure if that’s just me.  ;)

complex_ad.jpg“Complex” comes in packs of three related tints.  It’s shown here in one of the Reds, but comes in a wide variety of colors.

Available for L$175 at Diversity Hair (Dacham 73, 145, 48).  New items can be found in the Newness section, right at the store entrance.

Ryan! Shame on you.. Aleri has some of the cutest red men’s hairstyles and het textures just keep getting better. About surfing.. Why don’t we all head out for Bora Bora some night and hit the waves?

    xoxo

If your skin were any more pale, it’d be translucent.

Lol! The boy is pale, let him be! Hmmm maybe another reason for an escape to Bora Bora!! :D

I’ve never commented before in your blog, but I’ve been following it for a long time. I appreciate all your work and suggestions, specially when I get to shop for my boys! So thanx a lot ;)

I’m embarrassed it took me so long to “discover” Aleri’s hair designs, but you can bet it won’t be all that long before I check in again.

I do look pretty pale in these pictures. That is the lightest skin I own, but I wanted to wear it for the red eyebrows. Honestly, I think it’s mostly the lighting that makes it look SO pale here. I probably should have used pink or red fill lights. Ah well–you live, you learn.

Thanks to everyone for reading! :)

Just a quick correction on the SLurl - it is Dacham not Dachan.

    P.S. Love the blog!

Ack, that’s what happens when I can’t read my own writing. Thanks for the correction! I’ll fix the slurl link right now.
