New: Long johns @ Worldwide Industries
Although Christmas Day was fair and mild (if blustery) where I live in Los Angeles, since then it’s been just plain cold and windy. If this keeps up, this might be the first year in a long time that the weather is actively unpleasant for the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. (The standing joke is that the parade commissioner must long ago have made a deal with the devil for good parade weather every year. Don’t believe the clear, sunny skies you see when you watch the parade on television–they’re the work of Satan! Every other day of winter is ugly and cold.) These classic “long johns” by Ichibod Etchegaray are just the thing for cold winter nights, and I’m thinking seriously about investing in some for my RL self…especially if I can find some that look like these.
The top is provided on both the shirt and jacket layers, so you can layer over or under it if the mood strikes you. The traditional brick-red fabric has a great rough-weave texture, and the long row of buttons down the front make for easy on-and-off.
The bottom can be worn with the black flap conscientiously closed or whimsically open. The closed flap is accomplished via an underwear-layer garment worn with the long pants; the open flap is a very simple, one-prim flexi attachment. A cleverly done sculpted-prim flap might look a bit more like real cloth, but I’m pretty sure this would mean it couldn’t be flexi (someone can correct me if I’m wrong here). If you can’t have both, flexi is probably the way to go here as it doesn’t compromise the shape much and the little bit of movement you get from the flexi really sells it. Properly sized and positioned, it works just fine. Click here if you simply must, but fair warning–those with delicate constitutions may prefer to use their imaginations.Â
Permissions are Modify / No Copy / Transfer. Priced at L$150 for the set; also available styled for women. An electic selection of designs for men and women by Ichibod Etchegaray and Minde Mills is available at Worldwide Industries (Pulse 247, 205, 29).
I’m curious….what exactly qualifies as “cold” in Los Angeles…
I’m speaking as a NORTHERNER now, so BE CAREFUL!! haha
Haha, point taken.
The last few days it’s been getting down to the mid-30s at night, no higher than high 50s during the day. For here, this early in the winter, it’s pretty chilly.
For LA…I’d say that’s pretty cool. For Wisconsin…that’s March/April. High of 32 and 4-6inches of snow today.
