New: Leather gear @ Civvies
![]()
Those of you who have been following along for a while know that I’m a whore for long coats. It is arguably both a gift and a curse. Fortunately, the offerings of a variety of talented SL designers have made it possible for me to feel good about my addiction, if not overcome it. The new “Iron Cross” Long Coat (L$500) at Civvies is something of a cousin to Posy’s earlier Road Agent Coat, although with different coloring and finishing details.
The coat includes a jacket-layer top, a shirt-layer item that adds bagginess, and flexiprim coat bottom, cuffs and collar in large and small sizes. The collar also comes in two “flavors”: one attaches to the chest, the other to the chin. Posy has included a helpful notecard that explains the reasoning behind the different collars, so you can decide which one works best for you. As she points out, you do only need to wear one collar, so don’t just right-click the coat’s inventory folder and select Add To Outfit.Â
I really like the unusual touch of the Iron Cross-shaped buttons–they brighten up and add detail to what is otherwise an all-black item–and the appropriately large buttonholes make realistic sense.
The siren call to match this coat up with some of Posy’s other new designs was irresistible, so I decided (wisely, I hope you agree) not to waste precious time and energy even attempting to hold out. The “Sinner” Badass Hat (L$100) features the same Iron Cross medallion used to decorate the coat. Sueded leather texture looks touchable, and the deep black band adds contrast. The clean, simple design works pretty well with several of my favorite prim hairstyles without too many strands poking through, although the black hair I’m wearing here does camouflage the interference at least a bit. The Badass Hat line also includes “Reptile,” “Ruffian” and ”Scoundrel” variations in different colors and finishes.
For footwear, I saw no need to look any further than the Civvies Basic Workboots (L$275). Shown here in basic Black, these classically styled leather boots are also available in Brown, Green, Pink, Red, and Tan.  You’ll find a small “Civvies” brand tag on the back of each boot, at the heel.
All items available at Civvies (Maggiore 127, 128, 601).
The Civvies full-length coats are definitely unique. This new addition looks perfect for part-time vampire hunters and bogey slayers.
Can i know more abot dat Leather @ Civvies cloth fashion / style ? Use what perfurm can look 2 in 1 ? Tq !
Mr.Henry – I’m not sure I understand your question, but you can visit the Civvies shop to see all of Posy’s leather and other designs. You may want to IM her directly if you have questions about any of her items.
How about some real “today” kind of clothes for men instead of customes and these type things. For the most part guys want to wear nice casual outfits and not mark twain or huck finn type clothing.
Save this for halloween or custome parties.
Max – thanks for the suggestion. You’ll find a huge variety of communities in SL, and a corrresponding variety of clothing and accessories being designed for residents. We try to cover at least a fraction of that variety here at MSS, and not focus exclusively on any one style or genre. I think if you look back at our recent posts, you’ll see a pretty good range. We’re always happy to hear suggestions regarding specific designers or items that you think are worth covering, so please feel free to make recommendations.
