New: Jailbird button-down @ Homicide Designs
May 30th, 2007 at 01:28pm Aidan Recreant
Well, I ain’t here ’cause I drive too fast
And I’m too young to have a criminal past
Some good behavior would be all right
But I don’t seem to qualify, hah
I just stopped for a little fun
But I’m guilty till I’m twenty-one
I guess I’m doing time for being young!

Sometimes prison clothes are cool. Not the orange jumpsuit, or the old black-and-white-striped Hamburglar outfit, but the blue denim work shirt and jeans? Very, very cool. This is the badass type of prison wear, the look that says “Don’t screw with me. I will end you.”
If you want to come hang out here in the yard with me, do yourself a favor and pick up the new “Jailbird” shirt by Nerolus Mosienko of Homicide Designs. With a good pair of jeans and a beater undershirt, it’s a casual yet dangerous look. The shirt is untucked on the jacket layer, open in front, with two front pockets, distinct buttons, a prim collar, and prim cuffs for the rolled-sleeve option. A long-sleeve option is also included.
The back of the “Jailbird” bears a prisoner number, and has obviously been worn by many other prisoners before being issued to you. The other two shirts in the series are “Radiant,” black and green with a washed-out fallout design on the reverse, and “Mothblood,” gray with a faded moth on reverse, with blood spatters over back and sleeves.
Here I have to bow to Nerolus on texturing. The “Radiant” shirt is so subtle, you almost miss the point. It must have been tempting to make the emblem obvious, but the low-level, roughed-in design works so much better. This is a shirt that could be dismissed as just another black shirt, until you really take a look at it. On “Mothblood,” the seams are so well done they almost look as if they were sewn inside out. These details make these shirts some of the best I’ve seen in SL.
This set has undergone renovation since it was first released. Collar and cuffs have been made moddable, and a bug in the cuff placement has been fixed. Nerolus was very friendly and responsive when contacted for support, so if you purchased these shirts previously, contact him for replacement of the prim items.
The shirts are L$115 each, available at Homicide Designs in Grossglockner. Shot on location in SL State Penitentiary in Tuvan.
