New: Daring jackets and coats @ Civvies

In this era of high-tech synthetic microfiber technology, there’s something raw, primitive, even atavistic about the idea of clothing ourselves in animal skins. Some cultures have held the belief that one could take on characteristics of an animal by wearings its skin–strength, bravery, speed, endurance. In SL, you can test out this theory free of guilt, as no actual animals are involved in the creation of “animal-skin” designs.
Posy Trudeau’s new Reptile Jackets bring with them some of that “red in tooth and claw” aura, albeit in a more dashing and stylistic approach than we might expect from prehistory. Hmm, I wonder if that guy in the “Ten Gazillion B.C.” movie wears any snakeskin clothing? From the trailer, it seems like the emphasis is on the traditional tanned-skins-and-fur look. No matter what, he isn’t going to look as good as this.
Each unisex jacket has a crisp prim collar and cuffs (large and small sizes are included). There’s an invisible ”baggy” shirt layer for wear under the jacket, if you’re not layering with another shirt and want to give the jacket a looser look. The snakeskin texture works equally well in natural-looking Black and Brown (as shown above), albino White, or not-found-in-nature Pink. Permissions are Modify / No Copy / Transfer. L$275 each.
If animal skins aren’t your style, you may find Posy’s new Vasean Coats more to your taste. Rather than animal, the print here is leafy-floral-scrollwork and feels like crushed-velvet tapestry. Shining round buttons (a double row on the high collar) catch the eye with their gleam. These are named of course after Vasean Talamasca, and like their namesake the coats are exotic, dashingly handsome, charming, sexy, well traveled, perfectly proportioned, shockingly witty, wittily shocking, scandalous…I could go on. As with the Reptile Jackets, there’s a “baggy” shirt layer for optional wear under the coat, and the prim collar and tapered cuffs are included in large and small sizes. I’m wearing the coat here in Brown, mostly because of the hair, but you can also choose from Black, Green and Red.
Modify / No Copy / Transfer. L$300 each.
All available at Civvies (Maggiore 127, 128, 601).
