I don’t know what it is–it’s like I can’t get enough hair lately. My latest craze is this anime-influenced style called “BRP,” designed by Rei Gully of Zero Style. This style isn’t flexi, but it really doesn’t need to be. When have you ever seen an anime guy’s hair move, anyway? Come to think of it, the frame rate in lower-budget anime productions is probably about the same as the frame rate at my favorite dance club when it’s busy. This hair is perhaps stylized to a slightly higher degree than I usually wear, but it’s not so stylized that it’s unrealistic; there are enough spikey strands to make for a full look. I love the high lift in the front–it’s very Duran Duran and reminds me of the Eighties, which on and off these days I miss with a vengeance. Nostalgia is a great and terrible thing. “BRP” is perfect for that Disco or Eighties theme party you’ve got coming up…and you know you do.
In addition to red, this style is available in brunet, blond, black and brown. I didn’t try on the other colors, but they look good in the store display too (other colors are pictured below). A demo is available for L$1, so you can try before you buy.
The designer has thoughtfully included small, medium and large size versions of the hair, all moddable, so you can start with the one that’s the best fit to your avatar and adjust from there. The hair is copiable, so you can make a backup copy before making changes…just in case.
I did some careful tweaking on the strands that fall over and behind the ears to get them to fall to my satisfaction. (I can be pretty picky. Ask around.) This kind of detailed adjustment can be very painstaking, and practice is the best teacher. Make sure you’re fully alert–I’ve found that I can’t adjust hair late in the evening, when I’m getting tired, or I screw it up without fail. And make that backup copy first!
Available at Zero Style (Metabirds 32, 185, 23).
