Leather jackets and coats @ House of Zen

February 2nd, 2007 at 06:58pm Ryan Darragh

leather_jacket_short.jpgI am sucker for a beautiful long coat.  Designer Zen Deledda of House of Zen apparently knows this–word does get around, I suppose–and has decided to tempt and torture me with two fantastic new sets of men’s outerwear.  Available in black and brown (I am wearing the brown in all these pictures), these sets include a shorter jacket as well as mid-length and long coats.  The short jacket I’m wearing here over suit pants, dress shirt and tie would look equally good worn casually over jeans and tee.  The texturing and detailing is subtle but rich and very nicely done.  Note especially the fine leather grain and heavy stitching on the collar and lapels and at the cuffs.  The artwork on the back, especially on the longer coats, shows clearly how the individual leather sections have been pieced together to make the garment.

leather_jacket_midlength.jpgThe shorter jacket is a single clothing piece, worn on the jacket layer.  The longer coats are made up of two pieces, the coat top on the jacket layer, the coat bottom and tails on the skirt layer.  The mid-length coat (pictured at right) falls to just above the knee.  As the coat bottom and tails are skirt-layer clothing items and not flexiprim attachments, they don’t move and sway like some other coats.  However, they still look great and will make lesser demands on the simulator for your region, which may be a consideration if you’re a guest at a big party or other event with a large number of attendees.

leather_jacket_long.jpgThe long coat (pictured at left) falls to mid-calf and is really very impressive.  The skirt-layer sections can be adjusted as needed for sizing and fit.  The long coat is also shown from the back (below) to show the line and flow of this beautiful coat, and so you can inspect the detailing and construction.

leather_jacket_long_back.jpgThese new jacket and coat sets are priced at L$350 per set.  Available now at House of Zen (Hinode Shima 195, 98, 26).

Thank you so much for the wonderful write-up on the leather coats. You were most generous. Now that I know you like long jackets/coats, be prepared to be tempted and tortured more in the future!

Just yesterday I visited the House of Zen, and was very pleased. Their merchandise was great and good prices too. But what really makes a difference, is a honest true salesperson. Sasy, helped me find what I needed, and gave some great suggestions.

Hats off to the House of Zen. Truly a great find in SL.

I didn’t mention in the review, but there are usually models in the front of the store, modeling new clothing items so you can actually see them being worn. I don’t know about you, but I found it really helpful to see more than just 2-D ad art, which no matter how great it is can only go so far in showing what the clothing really looks and feels like.
