Jordan @ Eros Designs
October 2nd, 2008 at 04:08am Mr. Oh
Since celebrating my first RezDay a little while ago, I’ve been thinking back to those first weeks. It only took a day or two for me to realize that great women’s clothes were easier to find than great men’s clothes. It was then another week or two before I found some men’s clothes that knocked me out. When I praised them out loud, I was rewarded with a conversation with the artist, Keth Mommsen, herself. What an honour to connect with an artist! That garment and the conversation was the beginning of the path that brought me here.
The item in question was Jordan in Charcoal. And even today, if someone forced me to choose my single favourite article of clothing, Jordan would be the first candidate to come to mind and a strong contender to win that title. It is the epitome of what I want in a garment and in Second Life: there’s nothing complicated about it, it’s jacket-layer and skirt-layer, yet it manages to be completely extraordinary in the styling and cut. There are luxurious decorations in gold embroidery and shiny satin on the collar and pockets, yet these are so clearly enhancements to the cut and shape rather than pretentious flashy, blingy add-ons; they belong.
The coat you’ll purchase comes with everything you need except shoes. There are socks, there are some simple black trousers, and, depending on the colour coat you buy, either a simple grey or white shirt with a black necktie on it. Again, the look is distinctive without being distracting, elegance without formality, simplicity with hints of exuberance everywhere you look. I love it.
And the Jordan coat can also be a team player, with the right team. I love wearing it with another Eros product, “Focus” white shirt with gold tie (only L$50!). I also love it with slightly lighter coloured trousers for greater contrast (though most jeans, with all their wrinkles, worn patches and highlighting, do tend to compromise the simplicity and elegance).
Jordan is available in four other colours as well: white, red, green and blue. The white is the only one to come with a white shirt instead of the medium grey. The red is more of a burgundy than a fire engine red. The green and blue are clean, deep, crisp colours. But to my mind, nothing comes close to the Charcoal. Jordan costs L$600 per colour.
I shouldn’t really end this review without saying the word Edwardian. So… um… Edwardian.
The Eros main store is in Eros Cove (26, 72, 28).

Thanks for your generous words Mr. Oh!! Just an FYI, I always sell my men’s items as modify/transfer, so the shirt can actually be tinted for those men out there that like to play with their clothes
BTW, you look pretty fantastic in that suit… just say’n.

The Jordan has been around for a while, but you’re right, Mr. Oh it’s a great outfit from a great designer. It’s always worth mentioning. When people are at Eros buying it, I would like to direct their attention to Keth’s tuxedo. It’s also been around a while but it’s still extraordinary. She makes the black fabric seem like a luscious wool rather than the stiff cardboard of most SL tuxes. Truly a fine designer.
