Grand Opening @ Civvies Wearables

Posy Trudeau has been busy. Yes, that Posy Trudeau, she of Miau Haus fame. She has embarked on a new (ad)venture and just opened Civvies Wearables, her new clothing shop for men and women. As the very name suggests, the emphasis here is on wearability, and in fact many of these items have clearly been worn before. But, as Posy says, “…every rip, hole and stain tells a story.” The design of the shop carries out this theme as well, with its construction and furnishings giving the impession of having been knocked together from scavenged construction materials and other found items.
Posy has some great old/new printed shirts with artwork that reflects military/propaganda, vintage and multi-cultural influences. Here you see one of my favorites, the “Keep Out” long-sleeved tee. The decidedly un-romanticized heart remains safe (is it?) and protected (hmm…) behind barbed wire. Remember what they say: Cold hands, warm heart. I’m also wearing Posy’s ”Grease Monkey” jeans, which well and truly look like I’ve worn them many times while repairing that bastard of a transmission.
Also very nicely done is a collection of henleys that have certainly seen other (if not better) days. At left you see the henley in green, with realistic wrinkle texturing and shading that includes months if not years in accumulated grime. Fortunately, in Second Life no one can smell you, not matter how long since you did your laundry. Ironically, the jeans I’m wearing are the “Freshly Laundered” jeans in black. These have beautifully rendered fading on the pocket and fly seams, and the pocket rivets are a subtle but realistic addition. Since my hands were so cold, I decided to try on the “Iron Cross” woolly gloves. The fingertips have long since been cut off, so you’ll still be able to retrieve coins from your pocket or pick up your car keys when you drop them accidentally. I find that cursing a little always helps, too.
Finally, here I’m wearing the “Might Makes Right” tee (and the “Grease Monkey” jeans again). This shirt has a very Building A Better Society vibe and strong, dynamic artwork. For a little extra grubby chic, I have added the Faded Camo shirt, a flexiprim attachment that looks like it’s tied at the waist. This appears to be an updated version of the tintable plaid version Posy sells at Miau Haus, but with some hip new patterns. This attachment is moddable, so you can adjust for the proper fit.
Posy is about nothing if not making her designs accessible to the masses. Tee-shirts are priced at L$50, henleys go for L$60, jeans will set you back L$75, gloves are just L$50, and the flexi tied shirts sell forL$75. At these prices, you can easily take home a whole new/old wardrobe!
Also available, although not pictured here, are boxers in six colors, L$25 each; a woolly scarf for those chilly nights, L$75; and tube sock arm warmers in several colors, L$30 each. Oh, and a nice selection of stuff for the ladies.
Posy again: “Think…Mad Max meets Tank Girl meets Blade Runner with a Posy twist!”
All items available now at Civvies, held aloft by the airship Dystopia, wandering the skies of Second Life but currently docked high above Redear for your low-lag shopping convenience (Redear 248, 221, 496). Get over there now, before the Dystopia moves on!
