Discord Nightmare City Treasure Hunt

So, the Discord Nightmare City sim is amazingly awesome. First off, its just got awesome atmosphere — divided into smaller streets and sections each with its own feel and type of product. I will admit, though, it is a little bit tough to move around since there is no flying and no teleporting. Second — the prices are rather low. The most expensive items I saw were AOs and extremely prim-heavy outfits, including typing animations, at 250L. And third (and definitely most important) the content is just frickin’ awesome.
Before I prattle on about the owner and his stuff, let me get my announcement out of the way. Starting, well, since the first of the month there’s a hunt/prize/whatever ya wanna call it at the sim. Currently, there are two outfits (one for a guy, and one for a girl) scattered throughout the sim as 12 heart shaped boxes. These boxes are tough to find. Which is why you have a lot of time to find em. Six boxes are parts for the guys, and six boxes are parts for the girls. The six parts for the guys include jacket, pants, prim skirt, left sleeve, right sleeve, and collar/tie. All together, they form the sei-sou outfit (in hana orange) that I’m wearing in the picture. Hunts liked these are planned as part of the future of the sim, so there will always be somethin goin on.
Now, there’s a lot more going on at the this place. Lucky chairs are how I got my lucky orange shino-bi boots and neko mimi (ears). The lucky chair and camping street has a lot of fun items. Lucky walls and chairs offer everything — shirts, outfits, hair, hats, accessories, furniture. In addition, there are a few items that you can just camp for in adjoining buildings. You have to wait 2500 seconds, which is about 45 min, per item.
Another of the teleports from the main area is to a maze. You’ll find two hair styles at the end. I’m wearing one of them, the Kaede style, in blood. I believe (but am not sure) that you need to be in the Discord Imagination Believer group to win. Joining the group will also allow you to get a few gifts at the entrance, including the ken-sui outfit, a beginner’s typing animation, and some bracelets.
The guitar on my back is a 10L prize hidden away on the sim. I won’t tell you where.. but I will say that camming high and low as you search for hearts could lead to other surprises. The eyes, btw, are a group gift from Aitui. They’re a tad too “realistic” for my taste, as the whites aren’t clear and feature a bit of reddening, but they’re free and they’re blue.
Now, the hunt was hard enough that after 4 or 5 hours of searching, I asked a friend of mine, Kay Fairey, to ask for hint regarding one item from the owner of the store, Orange Meili. I was hesitant to do so, because a) I don’t know enough japanese and b) I really don’t like to bug sim owners about hunts. I must say I’m very glad I did, though. He and Kay struck up a conversation and through it he was able to tell me a lot about the sim and his goals.
Orange’s inspiration for his store is BareRose Tokyo. He hopes to be like June Dion, designing so many products across different themes and making them available to everyone at low cost. Which reminds me, I need to review BR here sometime. Anyway, Orange has tried to learn from and improve upon the BR model, breaking his store into distinct sections and keeping the sim relatively low prim so that lag doesn’t keep people away. The part that got me most was his generosity, though. He gives out freebies like candy to his group members, and even drops gifts on random customers spontaneously just because he happens to to like their outfits. He makes his products because he likes what he does, not because its a business for him. In fact, if he ever does make a profit after paying tier, he gives it to his staff, to whom he also gives land and living space below the store — on the ground. He does what he loves and it shows, making him the coolest thing about the place.
Actually, I lied. The coolest thing about the store are the typing animations. Orange is a close second though
This last pic is of Orange while he talked to me and Kay, rocking out with his Guitar Ver. 002 typing animation. These aren’t free, though, and but are moderately priced when compared to other animations. However, they’re prolly some of the best anims I’ve seen, especially for typing. Most are band related, but there’s a fun katana based one as well. Most are priced at 99L, but the guitar, bass, and katana ones are 199L. This is probably because they also feature texture switching.. so you can give your katanas and guitars a bit of variety. All in all, I had a lot of fun at Discord, and because its a prolific store, I’ll be checking back often.
Also, there’s another hunt going on for pink flamingos at SoHo New York. As far as I can tell, its for girls only. There are poses for girls that may work for guys too, but I’m pretty sure we guys can skip it.

I’m fond of the neko ears and tail from Jungle Voodoo, and the control scripting is simple but nicely done. I also think the ears by Kenny Sleeper are detailed and beautiful, and I believe he has some new sculptie ones out now too.
