Designer Review: Lookr by Adam Soler

Are you a lookr? That’s the slogan Lookr is advertised with. If you think yes is the right answer, then you should definitely teleport by the store sometime.

Lookr sells both men’s and women’s outfits, but most noticeably also makes custom branded items. These items are paid once, by the brandowner, and then handed away for free to the citizens of Second Life.

When it comes to the unbranded stock, Lookr doesn’t have a huge assortment yet. There is some choice already though. Currently available in the men’s corner of the store are sweaters, jeans, tee shirts and hoodies.

Adam Soler, the designer, created the Cozy line of sweaters as one of his latest. These striped sweaters are available in 4 colors, of which you can see the Midnight and the Sandy versions in the pictures with this review. Also available are Forest Green and Ocean Blue.

The textures on the sweaters are somewhat grainy, giving the impression of natural fabrics. The colors that were used work well with such a texture, resulting in sweaters that stay true to their name and actually do look cozy.

For 90 L$ you can buy one sweater, for 300 L$ you get all four. Included are jacket layer, shirt layer, undershirt layer, and underpants layer to lengthen the tucked version.

As far as pants, there is quite some variety. For sale are several tints of denim, a pair of canvas pants with sculpted flares (bottom picture), and two pairs of cargo pants. The sandstorm pants I’m wearing in the middle picture are the ones that caught my eye first. Apart from the interesting sandy color, this pair also has patterns stitched into it.

The canvas grey is another pair that I noticed quickly. Like the other pairs they have very nice detail on the waist, but unlike the others, they come with sculptie flares. The way these are sculpted makes them a bad choice to mix and match with low riding shoes, but they look really great on slightly taller shoes or on short boots.

The fabric on the denim pants is faded in the spots where you’d expect it to fade most in reality. The knees, the heels and the butt. Most of the pants have visible seams, but that’s because the designer chose to incorporate the texture seams into the stitched seams, instead of trying to work them away completely.

Each pair is available for 90 L$ as well. A very fine price compared to a lot of the fashion in Second Life.

Lastly, I’m showing one of the tee shirt designs. The two main lines of tees available right now are Tribal, Creation and Communicate. Tribal is the one I’m wearing on the picture, Creation shows a stylized sun and Communicate shows a more abstract logo.

The shading, highlighting and folding on the shirt has been nicely done, which shows the detail in Adam’s base textures. Each of the logos is nicely blended into that base. The shirts are also available for 90 L$ each in the store in tucked and untucked versions.

Also for sale 2 full outfits and a few hoodies. The full outfits cost 150 L$, the hoodies cost 175 L$ each. A fatpack is also available with all 6 hoodies for 750 L$.
