Coming Soon: X2 Exotica island and new clothes
October 13th, 2006 at 10:54pm Nicholas Shaftoe
You may have seen Celebrity’s post over at Second Style earlier today about Storma Amarula’s upcoming release Saturday at 12:01am at midnight Sunday/Monday (postponed 24 hours due to the grid downtime). She is moving the popular X2 brand to a mega store on the newly created Exotica Island and coordinating it with the release of a bunch of new stuff.
Storma contacted me earlier in the week and gave me a preview of her new X2: Exotica male Hyperfusion skins, as well as the Urban Warrior clothing bundle. Along with the Urban Warrior comes a set of brand new Wet Ikon geek toys from the uber-talented Francis Chung.
I had hoped to post this sooner, Storma mentioned she might have had a few more outfit previews for me, but I guess she was too busy getting ready
Update: Storma passed me whole bunch of preview stuff just before I went to bed last night. I was going to post some pictures this morning, but of course the grid is down. Suffice it to say there are some great baseball tees, collared shirts, and a western style that I saw quickly, among some others. Update 2: The pictures of these new items have been added above. The descriptions are after the jump.
The new Hyperfusion skins are definitely in keeping with Storma’s photorealistic style. The body hair is very well done withe just enough so you don’t look like Bigfoot. There is also a hairless version. The muscles on these skins are very highly defined giving a ripped, but not unnatural, look. The skins come with a large number of facial hair options, and generally have a well defined and rugged style.
The Urban Warrior set comes with an dizzying array of elements. There are camo pants and shorts, open and closed jackets in a number of colors, multiple tank tops, and even a pair of combat style boots. One of my favorite elements is the dog tag accessory.
The construction and design of the clothes is top-notch, and Storma told me she “spent a lot more time in the details of the new clothes and the focus us more casual this time around.” She also said she has “been working on this for 3 months, so i prefer to launch in big updates rather than a piece at a time.”
To go with the Urban Warrior set, Francis Chung created a set of prim accessories from her Wet Ikon brand, which Storma collaborated on. There is a tough looking, and working, watch with about a zillion functions like stop watch, multiple time zones, and an alarm. Also she created an AFK Cell Phone and typing animation Laptop.
Storma also mentioned more men’s outfits in the works for the release date.
All in all the opening of Exotica Island should be exciting, and a boon for all of us that love this talented designer’s work.
Update: The top image shows a sample of each of the new men’s tops coming out. There are 5 or 6 colors of each style, and they all come tucked and untucked. I think the football jersey might be my favorite but it is hard to say
ALl are sure to be staple items in every mans wardrobe.

[...] Storma Amarula is the lead designer of X2: Exotica, a clothing and skin emporium. Like many other designers and design houses, she’s taken the leap to the next level: a private X2 shopping island, which is opening to the public this Saturday at 12:01 pm SLT. In addition to a stunning new store build and some gorgeous landscaping, there are a ton of brand new goodies, as well as refined updates to older releases such as the X2 HyperReal skins. As an initial teaser, here are two of the new X2 releases: the drop-dead-gorgeous Succubus lingerie set (using the brand new X2 Blush Rose skin set — more on that after the cut), and Storma’s very large, versatile Urban Warrior (a set which comes for women and men — for the men’s releases, please see my colleague Nick Shaftoe’s Men’s Second Style blog) camo chic set.
