Classy Freebie Suits
The reason I ended up modeling for Ryan in the first place is that I’m a sucker for suits. So a post about freebie suits was inevitable. First off, Vindi Vindaloo’s white tux is a staple at Free Dove that just about every guy should pick up. But there are other options out there, especially if you’re looking for a more casual, dressy suit instead of a business ensemble.
First up is the Cecile D-Suit from Donmai Frederick, of Back and Forth. As far as I can tell (from what little Japanese I can understand) Cecile is a Japanese catalog retailer. They’ve put out some clothes, based on their actual wares, for guys and girls to dress up and pose outside their build. The D-Suit is the male offering. It consists of a black jacket and pants, three dress shirts, and three prim ties. I really have no complaints with this suit, except that the ties can be a bit annoying to fit. Textures are quite good, layers are used well — it’s a really great freebie.
The other suit is actually two suits. The black and white tailored suits from Four Yip are available at $1L in the corner of Yip’s Little Store. Unlike the D-suit, these have jacket done as a shirt and skirt combination. This makes a sense since the jacket is closed, and separating the jacket and shirt, while offering flexibility, would require making full shirts underneath the jacket. There are five shirt color options – black, bordeaux, green, marine, and white. The skirt is independent of the shirts. As with any skirt piece, reducing your butt to near zero can prevent the jacket from poofing out at your waist. There are also prim attachment flares your legs. This suit felt a more clubbish to me that first, possibly because it’s more wrinkled and the top is open a bit.
I’m also wearing some freebie hair available (with a little work) from mod’s hair Paris. While I could write my own post about this place, I’m going to refer to the awesome blog Paratge, where Dpende has put together an awesome guide for finding the hair. All three hair styles are fun and good looking. The only caveat is that I’ve found tinting them somewhat difficult — if you don’t like the colors don’t get your hopes up too high.
Last but not least, I’ve got the excellent low cost M67s from Adam ‘n Eve on my feet. These little 2 prim sculpties are both simple and stylish. If you’re under 30 days old, hurry over to A&E since the creator Damen Gorilla offers a single pair of free shoes to all newbies under 30 days old. You’re not just limited to black either. The M67′s are available in eight different colors. Even if you aren’t under 30 days old, these shoes are available for pretty cheap at $99L for one pair and $399L for a fatpack. I’d say that so far these are probably the best freebie/low cost dress shoes I’ve seen out for guys.
The D-Suit is available at Ginza(96,186,32). Black and White Tailored suits are available at Yip’s Little Store, MO Island (187, 215, 28). Freebie hair available at NTT DoCoMo and M67′s are at Adam n Eve, Genesis (41, 119, 23).
Thank you for the Adam n Eve shoe tip. I’ve had the devil of a time finding good dress shoes that won’t break my wallet.
[...] and Four Yip, of Yip’s Little Store, are two designers who are new to GNUbie family. Four has her tailored suits hidden amongst her other freebies for 0L. Its a great suit, and a worthy addition to the GNUbie [...]
The D-Suit looks nice except for the tail of the jacket being too tight – this is a problem with all “jacket-layer only” suit jackets . To get them to hang right you need a skirt layer or prim bottom. I’ve seen far too many otherwise excellent suits fall to this problem.
