I had a hell of a time finding a neko skin I liked. I looked all around, asked people for recommendations, tried on demos like you wouldn’t believe. My thing was, I wanted a skin that, kitty markings aside, would also look good as a skin on its own. I wanted a skin that still left me looking like Ryan, but not Ryan turned feral. What about neko tattoos? you may be wondering. You’re right, some of those look very good, and of course the big plus is that you can wear them with your favorite skin. This approach may well work for you. But I wanted markings on my face, too, and what if I wanted to wear them with some specific clothing and I had a layer conflict? What if I wanted to wear other tatoos? What if I wanted to wear them with underwear? (Nekos get nasty, too, you know.) Maybe, if they came on all the clothing layers… No, what I really wanted was a skin. A really good neko skin. gah.. sorry for the wait… technical difficulties held this one up
A long time ago, when I was just a newbie, I would wander the grid, holding my forward arrow down and steering whenever I needed to. Needless to say, I had no life. Actually, now that think of it, I still don’t. But that’s a conversation for another time. On one of these nights of wandering, I ran into this man. He was slightly taller than me, very good looking, and dressed impeccably. I wasn’t quite sure what to say to him, so I said “hi.” He ignored me. I felt very newbish and sad. That man’s name was Lawless McBride. So now, one year later, I found him again and told him: “You may have snubbed me a year ago but I was weak and inexperienced… now I’m ready to face you again. I challenge you to a style throwdown!” (more…)

So supposedly the pope says St. Patrick’s Day was the 15th, because of Holy Week. The Dropkick Murphys say its the 17th cuz of their show. So I figured I’d play it safe — wear green and get wasted from the 15th to 17th. Now, sitting on my ass unsure how to get up, I decided to try and remember how I ended up here. I’m wearing the Fleur newbie skin in Buff, available for 1L at GNUbie or for free if you’re under 30 days old. The shirt and pants, which I haven’t changed in three days, are from Stellar Designs, and available as part of the March group gift. The shoes… well shoe.. I don’t know where the other went.. is from Free Dove. I tinted the (surprisingly) modifiable Anjo’s adorables blue camo shoes so that they were green. Socks are from Arai, available in the store as a pack called daily socks. The hair though.. I don’t know what happened. I could have sworn I had Platinum hair when I started drinking Saturday (ETD’s Sleek, $1L) but I guess I decided to tint it at some point. I picked up the hat off a leprechaun at the House of Nyla.. or at least I thought it was a leprechaun.. except they were big, and on a sign. And the tattoos.. well.. those weren’t there Saturday either either.. but I vaguely remember dropping by etchd.. I wonder if lasering off whatever else is on me is gonna be a freebie too…

Oh my God, you’re thinking. I know you are. Socks. Why is he reviewing socks? What, you never got socks for Christmas? ;) Socks are kind of an interesting beast in SL. By that I mean mostly that there aren’t many around. The only socks I have are some tube-style socks I got at American Apparel, a few pair that came included with shoes I bought (a trend I wish more designers would adopt, there’s your hint for the week), and a few pair that I…shudder…made myself. You’re probably in the same situation. Or maybe you’re one of those guys who, as Nick pointed out earlier, don’t bother to wear socks. Maybe that’s just because you don’t have any. Well, now you have no excuse. Krius Misfit of SiniStyle Design recently released a collection of socks that, trust me, you can’t live without. (more…)
