The Second Man classifieds were started as a resource for designers when the conventional wisdom was that the Official Linden Forums Classifieds were going to be discontinued. LL reversed thier stance of this shortly thereafter, and have kept them indefinitely. The Second Man classifieds never saw much traffic, and recently there has been a big upswing in spam registrations. In light of this we will be dicontinuing the Second Man Classifieds at the end of the week, unless there is a great hew and cry from the design community.

As you may or may not have noticed, I have not personally posted to the site much in quite some time. Mostly this is due to all my time being sucked up doing custom builds (shameless plug: check out Canimal Zephyr’s new sim “Canimal”).
Ryan Darragh has done a tremendous job keeping up with things and so I am passign the reins of Men’s Second Style to him as Editor in Chief. I will remain as Founder and Editor Emertus as well as technical and design guru, but for everything else, Ryan will be running the show. That means designers, send him your previews, prospective writers, send him you writing samples, and critics, send him you barbs.

Sorry everyone, it took a while but with help from the folks at BlueHost.com technical support we figured out there were some stuck running prcesses which have now been cleared out. All is back to normal, thanks for sticking with us.

I am pleased to announce the addition of Zebediah Godwin as another new writer to The Second Man. In his words:
I’ve done a bit of writing before, and it seems like it will be fun to contribute to this. I’ll probably focus mostly on the goth, period, and fantasy categories, since there aren’t a lot of reviews of those already. I do have a love of formal wear, though, so I’ll do a bit of that now and then too.

Well, I guess this is old news to everyone now, but I would like to give a warm wlcome to our newest contributor Giddeon Charming. I invited him to join us about 2 hours before I left on vacation and didn’t get a chance to post this, but he has introduced himself through a bunch of great posts already.
The invitation was also extended to Giddeon’s partner in everything, Willow Zander who has been churning out the men’s fashion posts over at PXP.

Andrew LaVallee of the Wall Street Journal has written an article about Virtual Fasion in SL. It appears in botht he online and print editions (cover of the Marketplace section.
Yours truely was inteviewed and have a few quotes in the article, including the funny closing line. The print edition has a cover shot of Second Style Magazine, and it is also shown in the slide show about halfway down the page on the olnine edition.
Now let the flame war begin over my “Wal-Mart” quote.

I am pleased to announce that this site is now part of the Second Style brand as Men’s Second Style. Celebrity Trollop and Josie Hamilton approached me with the idea last week, and I decided it would be a good move since they seem to be the leaders in the SL fashion media.
So what does it mean for this site? The content will be the same, and the writers will be the same. We will have a new name (same URL will work), ad sharing with their publications, and hopefully some more exposure for men in Second Style Magazine.

Okay, okay. I know I have been slacking the last few days, but I got some new stuff for ya soon I promise. In the mean time I am pleased to announce the addition of 2 new authors for Second Man.
Barnesworth Anubis, the designer who probably needs little introduction to this audience, will be posting cool finds, fashion tips, and anything that catches his fancy. Let’s hope he posts here more than his own blog. I kid!!
Resident Ryan Darragh will be contributing posts as well. He already has a nice review in the bag ready to post, but I won’t steal his thunder and tell you what it is.

I know all the ladies have been waiting a long time for a new installment of what could be SL’s best magazine, but there is a fair amount inside for us guys too.
This issue features a major interview with clothing and skin designers Ambyance2 Anubis and Lost Thereian (I guess I should mention the photo of them was taken by yours truely 
).
Also there is an interview with Blaze Columbia, Zealot Benmurgui’s column, stomper boots, and features a Style Guy, Jazz club owner Athel Richlieu, instead of the usual Style Girl.

The Second Man is looking to add some additional authors to the blog. If you are adiscerning gentleman with an eye for fashion, and quick wit, then contact me in world or at nick.shaftoe(at)gmail.com
I am looking for a few people to help in the different styles that I am not as familiar with. These areas include Fantasy, Goth, Club, Urban, and Period. No matter what styles you are interested in covering the key element is an eye for quality designs. I strive to post items of the highest quality in texturing and construction.
New authors will be given a trial period in which I will moderate the first few posts until I see what you can do.

The Second Man Classifieds are meant to give you, the designer, an opportunity to display your latest releases for men to a focused audience. With the impending demise of the SL Forums, I hope this becomes a decent replacement for the New Products forum. You may also create a general post about your store.
If you are a designer of clothes in SL, you may register for this site and post your own product announcements, along with a picture and category classification.
You can choose to allow readers to post comments or not, and the site is syndicated via RSS so residents can quickly keep track of new postings. This is a bit of an experiment to see if people will find this usefull, and if so, if it can be kept under control. If it is needed I am willing to hots the same for desingers of womens fashion.
I will not be reviewing the products here, but I may pick some to review on this site. I will moderate the postings for any inappropriate products or offerings. Basically anything that is not clothing, skin, shoes, hair, or avatar accessories.

I know summer is almost over, but it will be spring in the southern hemisphere soon, plus it’s always 75°F and sunny in SL

Taking a page from Celebrity Trollop, I will be adding additional disclosure information to my posts. This will show whether I have actually seen a product in world, if I have been given a free review copy of a product, and whether the creator of the product is on my Friends list.
For postings that have images taken in world of models wearing products, I will list any additional information aboout the skin, hair, and accessories not related to the actual product when possible.

OK, this doesn’t have anything to do with fashion, but it is so cool I had to throw it up here. Ordinal Malaprop has created the “Slurlblogger,” A tool for the Intrepid Explorer, which is an attachment that allows you to send an email to your blog (or anywhere) with a SLURL and your own comment from a chat channel.

The tool is available free on SL Boutique and SL Exchange.
