New: Seamaster watches @ SteinWerk

seamaster.jpgSometimes, I look at a new item, created with love and care by a gifted and talented designer, and it’s a moment of bliss.  Think of the exquisite detailing in shoes by Eponymous Trenchmouth, the velvety flow and fall of fabric in clothing by Shai Delacroix, the classic lines of a suit by Blaze Columbia.  This is rarefied company indeed, but the new “Seamaster” watch by Aveline Stein earns its place honestly and fits in beautifully.

seamaster_close.jpgThe Seamaster is meticulously crafted and constructed (171 detailed prims), and according to Aveline all textures were handmade in Photoshop.  In addition to showing the time (a must for me–sorry, I’m picky that way), the Seamaster features a working date window that adjusts correctly based on the selected timezone setting.  The list of additional features is lengthy, so I’ll mention just a few of the standouts.  An beep sounds the hour; you can adjust the sound volume or disable it entirely if you prefer.  A new “look at” animation makes your avatar look at the watch every hour or two, and can also be triggered as desired from the menu.  Two tasteful “bling” modes are provided, which you can use if you like, but the default bling setting is thoughtfully set to off. Outfit: “Mad Love”

mad_love_full.jpgI’m trying something new here, and a little bit different.  Actually, I’m shamelessly stealing Ben Vanguard’s “Outfit of the Day” concept from his new blog.  I told him that really I wouldn’t be stealing, it would be more of an homage.  He laughed, so I think I’m safe.  ;)

You’ll notice that I’m not calling this an “Outfit of the Day” post–I won’t be doing this every day, but if the response is positive I may do it once in a while.  This is also a perfect opportunity for me to showcase some great new items that I haven’t been able to feature in a dedicated review post.  If you’re interested in trying your hand at something like this for the blog, let me know!

I’m calling this ensemble “Mad Love” after the fantastic tee I started with and built from there.  Both the Mad Love shirt and Muddy Cut Tyler Jeans pictured here are by designer Rhyph Somme and are available at Sidewalk (formerly RS Creations) at Isabella 102, 21, 123.  The graphic and artistic design on this shirt are gorgeous, from the rough-edged band of the knit collar to the subtle torso contouring and detailing.  My mama always told me that redhead boys shouldn’t wear red clothes, but I think we can cut her some slack there–after all, she’s never seen me quite like this. New: Men’s watches @ SteinWerk

reversa_platinum.jpgI have found that few and far between are the watches I actually like and want to wear in SL.  My requirements are simple.  I want a watch to be attractive, by which I mean it should be a watch I would wear in real life.  And it should keep time–no static watch faces for me.  That may seem kind of silly, since it’s not like you can easily look at your watch, or even need to in order to know the time.  But it just seems to me that a watch should tell the time.  Until now, I have had I think only one watch, the gorgeous Tag Heuer F1 by Dave Moreau, available on SL Exchange.  Well, the times, they are a-changin’.  Designers Luv and Aveline Stein of SteinWerk have just released new designs in their line of fully functional (and then some) watches.  At left you see “Reversa,” a beautiful interpretation of a classic rectangular-face dress watch.  This design is based on the world-famous “Reverso” watch by Jaeger Le Coultre.  The case has a great Deco feel, with strong lines and simple numerals.  The leather band (my personal preference) has a lovely texture and complements the case design perfectly.  ”Reversa” is available in gold, steel and platinum (pictured).
