Phew.. Easter is over. Should be good till the next giant holiday.. is it Mother’s Day? Anyway, back to business as normal.. or business I forgot about because I was too busy egg hunting.
Adam n Eve recently opened a new boutique at Genesis for a line of high class fancy clothes. In order to celebrate the opening, sachi Vixen decided to put up two freebies — a polka dot dress for the ladies and polka dot shirt for the guys. Now when I saw the shirt the first thing that came to mind was disco. Unfortunately, I’m a bit too young to remember disco, so I decided to inspire myself with the closest thing I do know to ridiculous dancing and outfits — A Night at the Roxbury. More specifically, my speakers were thumping Haddaway for a half hour as I put this outfit together. (more…)

So what if, as the song says, the weather outside is frightful? I’m such a whore for sweaters and coats as it is, I barely need winter as an excuse. This month you get to benefit from my hedonistic accumulation of cold-weather wardrobe items, as I’m sharing some of my favorites, both old and new.
First up, an old favorite of mine. These Pea Coats by Donmai Frederick, released last winter, have classic lines and a beautiful wool fabric texture. The set includes coats in six colors: Beige, Black, Blue (as shown here), Brown, Gray and Green. A simple undershirt also adds shape and bulk to the coat, so you look like you’re layering properly for the cold weather, just like your mother told you. As if that weren’t enough, you also get four flexi scarves, plain and striped, in short and longer lengths. Undershirt and scarves are tintable, so you can customize to your heart’s content. Also available in a set styled for women. Pick these up for L$300 for the set at Back and Forth (Metabirds 192, 71, 25). (more…)

In recognition (honor?) of the fact that this weekend has brought the hottest days of the year so far where I live, I thought it would be nice to take a look at some designs that are similar to things I (and many others) are wearing in RL right about now. These lightweight shirts by Mathfew Alonzo of Savvy Avvy (formerly az design) are billed as “Short Sleeve Dress Shirts,” but don’t let that limit you–they work equally well with either a simple but classic suit for a dressy but informal look, or with a pair of jeans of shorts for more casual dressing. The shirts come in five colors: Arctic Blue, Mustard, Pea Green, Rose and White. Each can be worn tucked or untucked. The subtle pinstriping is a good look for almost any guy, and details like the double layer of clothing at the pocket and along the placket are nicely realized. (more…)
