Options, with Occasional Designer

Options4.JPGOne evening last summer, after several gimlets (as typifies these things), a friend and I got on the subject of uniformity of dress. “A suit and tie is conformity as its worst,” my friend declaimed. “Constricting, it hampers freedom of movement; mandated, it hampers freedom of expression; and bland, it hampers the freedom to be creative. You are a fool to let yourself be forced to wear them and a lemming to do so uncomplaining.”

My smile had far too many teeth: “You’re one to talk, scion of the IT department,” I observed archly. “Ill-fitting Gap khakis and a royal blue polo do not make you the hacker baron of the network closet, any more than your bowlers make you Dick Weber. Mind you, don’t get any pretzels in one of your dozen or so pleats.”

Casual Zip Jackets @ Little Rebel

zip_jacket_indigo.jpgzip_jacket_soil.jpgI bet you thought I was done with jackets for the season.  Hey,  I kinda thought so, too.  Designer Jonquille Noir of Little Rebel Designs knew better, though, and has surprised us with this new collection of Casual Zip Jackets!  I’ve been consistently impressed with Jonquille’s ongoing creative output, her realistic textures and detailing, and her always-reasonable pricing.  When guys who are new in SL (or girls shopping for their guys) ask me where they can do some one-stop shopping for a wide variety of good menswear at prices that won’t break the bank, it’s the Little Rebel landmark I drop on them first. New: Casual shirts, shorts @ Little Rebel

sand_shirt_green_shorts.jpgI hadn’t stopped by Little Rebel Designs in a while, and when I got there the other day I saw that, as usual, designer Jonquille Noir has a selection of new items handily available right at the front of the Men’s section.  What really caught my eye were these Stripe Spring Shirts and Safari Shorts.  From the first warm day of spring (or late winter) through the last bearable day of autumn, my RL wardrobe pretty much consists of cargo shorts, lightweight shirts and sandals.  Boring?  Maybe, but so comfortable.  I do try for more variety in SL, but still…the weather’s changing and who wears a suit out on a hike, anyway?  Here I’m wearing the Stripe Spring Shirt in Sand and Safari Shorts in Green. New: Work Shirts @ Little Rebel Designs

lucky_corrosion.jpgJonquille Noir of Little Rebel Designs continues to please with a great selection of work shirts for us guys.  Do ya feel lucky, punk?  I sure do when I’m wearing shirts as well designed as these.  “Lucky” comes in six colors:  Corrosion (pictured at left), Garage, Plasma (pictured below), Toxic, Oil and Trash.

lucky_plasma.jpgAs always, I love Jonquille’s photoreal fabric textures, which she uses more effectively than most.  These untucked shirts are worn on the jacket layer for extra length.  The fit gives the appearance of being a little snug, with just a bit of a tug at the top fastened button.  It’s nice to see all that working out paying off.  :D  The name patch, clearly not yours (or is it?) is a nice touch.  These are perfect for a lazy Saturday working on your old Mustang…or cleaning out the attic.

These shirts and many more great items are available at Little Rebel Designs (Gallinas 151, 93, 58).  Jonquille’s usual accessible prices apply–all tops are just L$50, jeans and pants are L$100.  (When I was there last night, I noticed several sets of hot-looking retro panel shirts, the sets priced at L$50 to L$100–just L$25 per shirt! I’m hoping to do a review post for these too, but with the holidays and all…who knows?  Check them out for yourself!)  Menswear is at the top of the left staircase in the store, and new items are on the left wall as you enter the men’s section.

New: Devil babe @ Little Rebel Designs

worker_jacket_front.jpgI can’t say enough nice things about Jonquille Noir’s men’s styles, available at Little Rebel Designs.  Her photosourced textures are among the best I’ve seen, and always used well in the construction of the clothing, never just slapped on with a “There you go, that’s good enough!”

worker_jacket_back.jpgI am completely crazy about her new Worker Jacket, which you see me wearing here in Navy (also available in Brown, Green and Grey).  The detailing is very nicely done, with smart-looking sleeve cuffs and a front zipper.  The killer touch, though, is the glitter-edged devil-babe silhouette graphic on the back–awesome!  Also included is a version with a plain back, I guess for more somber occasions.  ;)  I’m trying to think of situations where I would not want to show off a glittery devil-babe on my back…but…no, I can’t think of any.  Still, it’s good to have the choice. New: Fall menswear @ Little Rebel Designs

sweater_cords.jpgJust in time for Fall–hey, it’s only just starting to get chilly in the evenings where I live!–Jonquille Noir of Little Rebel Designs has released a selection of great new items for cooler weather.  First up, the Ribbed Crew Sweater, which comes in six rich colors: Soot, Navy, Merlot, Forest, Concord and Coffee.  These sweaters come in a set that includes a shirt version, jacket version and gloves you can wear to create the illusion of overlong sleeves.  This is a clever effort that may work better on some than it does on me–rather than stopping above the knuckles, it made the sleeve cuff look like it was wrapped oddly around my thumb.  You may or may not have better luck than I did with this little extra, but these sweaters are a must-have anyway.

Perfect to pair with these sweaters are the Flap Pocket Corduroy Pants, which come in Grey, Green, Brown and Blue.  The sweaters feature a nice ribbed texture, realistic shoulder seams and a sleek fit.  For me, cords are too heavy to wear during spring and summer, and these have a wonderful sheen that makes them look warm, perfect for a crisp evening.  Here I am wearing the sweater in coffee with the cords in brown.
