Hair Fair 2008 - holy crap, stuff for guys!

hair_fair_2008.jpgI think it took me four days to get through Hair Fair this year, a combination of spare (okay, I’ll qualify that to “more or less available”) time in my evenings during the week and weekend afternoons. Hey, there was a lot to see–87 hair designers spread across four sims.  That’s a workout even if you’re in good shape.  Somehow it just felt BIGGER this year, although I know the event took up four sims last year too.  [My memory misinformed me--Hair Fair 2007 occupied two sims, not four.  See the Comments for the authoritative scoop.]  The layout this year was a big change from last year’s more mall-like plan.  The build architecture by Rezzable (by Washu Zebrastripe, Damien Fate and Selena Gateaux, hosted in sims provided by Rezzable) reflected Mayan influences, as you can see in the large structure shown here, a kind of “temple” pyramid which served as an arrival/welcome area.  There was a comfortably appointed rest area as well as displays featuring custom styles for auction to benefit Locks of Love and winners of a Flickr photo contest.  Designer booths were arranged in ranks around the central temple in long rows set at angles to one another.  If it sounds confusing–it certainly could be, if for instance I had (hypothetically, of course) crashed or relogged a few times and lost track of where I had already been.  If it sounds exhausting to you–I suppose it might be, especially if you tried to do the whole thing in one sitting.  If it sounds like fun–well, I had a good time shopping (hair whore that I am) and chatted with some nice people along the way.

Think about it this way: I go to Hair Fair so you don’t have to.  :D (more…)

New: Rock star hair @ Hayate’s Hair Lab

soh_front.jpgI don’t know how it is for you, but every once in a while I’m digging through my inventory, which no matter how carefully I sort and organize still seems to get out of control, and I find something that has somehow gotten lost in the shuffle.  Here is an example of that sad syndrome.  Unfortunately this hair style by Hayate Ewing is no longer brand new in the shop, but it’s still the most recent addition for men.  “Soh” (which, unless my googling misleads me, means “peaceful” or ”harmonious”) is extravagant, elaborate, and just plain big.  It is advertised as a “Japanese Men’s Gorgeous Hair Style,” and I won’t argue on any count, but I think it would work equally well for women.  In fact, it makes me think of Ann and Nancy Wilson in Heart’s heyday, although maybe with not quite so much gel and mousse. Review: Hayate’s Hair Lab

kira_side.jpgkira_front.jpgJust this week I was given a landmark  to Hayate’s Hair Lab (H2L), brain-child of designer Hayate Ewing.  (Thanks to Vasean for the tip!)  Hayate is creating some amazing hair designs, and I felt compelled to share a couple with you.  The style you see here is a new design called “Kira.  This is a beautiful, anime-inspired style.  In spite of the clear anime influences, my first thought was, “Oh, it’s very Duran Duran,” and amazingly enough that was the first comment I heard, too.  So it’s not just me!
