Sorry, you have to make allowances for the occasional “Wizard of Oz” reference. Just roll with it.
I’ve feel like I’ve been all over the map lately, stylistically speaking–and don’t get it wrong, I’ve got some fun stuff in the works for next week. But today I venture back into very familiar territory with some casual designs that you know are the kind of thing I live and breathe. Dan Senyurt’s new Club Shirts have everything a casual shirt needs: silky smooth fabric texture, neatly cuffed short sleeves, notched collar with handsome drop shadow, and front patch pocket. They come on the jacket and shirt layers and can be worn neatly tucked in, as you see here, or more casually untucked. An open and untucked version is also included, perfect for layering with your favorite tank or tee, or just catching the breeze on an especially warm spring day. (more…)

One evening last summer, after several gimlets (as typifies these things), a friend and I got on the subject of uniformity of dress. “A suit and tie is conformity as its worst,” my friend declaimed. “Constricting, it hampers freedom of movement; mandated, it hampers freedom of expression; and bland, it hampers the freedom to be creative. You are a fool to let yourself be forced to wear them and a lemming to do so uncomplaining.”
My smile had far too many teeth: “You’re one to talk, scion of the IT department,” I observed archly. “Ill-fitting Gap khakis and a royal blue polo do not make you the hacker baron of the network closet, any more than your bowlers make you Dick Weber. Mind you, don’t get any pretzels in one of your dozen or so pleats.”

It’s not every day you see something you’ve never seen before, but designer Dan Senyurt has come up with something new under the sun. His new collection of casual and dressy men’s shirts is great in its own right, featuring attractive designs and beautiful fabric textures. But Dan, frustrated by a problem he saw that seemed to have no solution, decided to solve it himself. More on that in a moment–first take a look at this Velvet Shirt, shown in Kirsch Red. The fabric texture is shiny, rich and smooth, with just a few drapes and folds to suggest the flow of cloth over skin. These shirts come in 13 colors: Empire Violet, Soda Blue, Chocolate, Petrol Blue, Kirsch Red, Coriander, Ironstone, Licorice, Coffeebean, Cobalt, Aubergine, Teal, and Bottle Green. They can be worn tucked or untucked, open or closed (shown here closed and tucked). (more…)
