Gonna make this short and sweet. There’s a hunt going on at the Haute Couture sim until 8 am 5 pm SLT tomorrow. There’s one gift for guys at the Chez store there, the charcoal pinstripe suit. Mr. Jacobus reviewed this suit last year. Its double-breasted and its a pinstripe suit. I like that. a lot. And its layered with separate jacket, tie, and shirt layers for flexibility with a wide variety of other shirts and ties. I haven’t shown them, but the shirt comes with prim cuffs for wear without the jacket. They’re a bit big but can be modified to size.
Also, I’m wearing free hair and eyes from UncleWeb, following a tip from Creamy on Free*style. My only beef with these eyes is that they have reddening (like real eyes) near the edges, and it makes those disaffected, aloof “model shots” where you look off to the side look rather ugly. The hair only comes in specific colors, though I was decently successful at tinting the browns into reds and darker browns. Also, I was unable to the find the first style of freebie hair (I found 2, and am wearing 3, and 4 is for women). If anyone sees the first style, tell me. I’ll give you a donut.
Finally, I decided to let Mike Oxlong wear his original skin, the LF0y male skin from Eloh Eliot, that Creamy packages with the shape at Free*style HQ. LF0y has a fancy manicure and pedicure going on due to its heritage as a female skin. If you want to fix it, just head over to Eloh’s blog and download the textures yourself. A bit of time in photoshop and you can fix em

Global Warming is, by all reckoning, here to stay. Polar bears running across cocktailing ice, Polynesians aboard outriggers besaddled with backpacks and lunchpails, grasshoppers growing large, learning Missourah-speak and taking jobs in the ethanol and methamphetamine industries–truly, it contains the seeds of planetary catastrophe. And yet… if one looks, the silver lining is there. Moscow eschews the thwarting snow for fields of lush grain. Canada’s warm denizens and chill winds welcome a monied immigrant class from the south and finally put the Northwest Territories to use as a grand vacationland. The Sahara becomes a sea of glass. So why not light gray for fall suiting? It’s been many a year since anyone paid mind to them that wear white after Labor Day, and stripes and stripes have lived together comfortably for years thanks to Etro and Cannon. When it’s 70 in November, a man’s tweed hangs on him like a Neanderthal’s furs–he needs something with a bit less mass. (more…)

By coincidence, I went to interview Chez Nabob only a few days before the release of his new items. Pins in his mouth, he was working on some final touches. He mentioned, as almost an after-thought, that he was putting together “…something I swore I’d never do: jeans.” I inquired further.
“Everyone in SL who makes clothes does jeans. I didn’t want to do what everyone else was doing. I figured there were more than enough options for people.
“But then,” he said, “I would be making something for my line and think to myself — hmmm — wish I had some jeans to go with that. So I caved in and made some.” Thus, some of the nicest jeans you’ll ever own were born out of a concession, a weakness. He couldn’t help himself: he caved in. (more…)
