Cattivo got a new (and bigger) store at Second Guy Clothiers earlier this week. To celebrate that Lissa made her new outfit available in that store only for a week. The outfit, called The Casual Sophisticate, is supposed to be the start of her spring collection and will be available in all her stores once the week is over.
The outfit comes with a dark red V-neck t-shirt, a charcoal unbuttoned dress shirt in two styles, striped khaki corduroys, and a pair of Lissa’s Oxford shoes in chocolate. Prims are included for the pant cuffs and the cuffs on the shirt with rolled up sleeves. Since they’re all single prim items, they’re easy to resize and reshape to fit you.

In my personal experience I noticed that Second Life fashion is often either extremely casual or extremely formal. But let’s say you have a reputable job in Second Life, for example in education or in business. Both of those sectors have ties to the real world, and often real life business relations don’t really appreciate if you show up in urban gear whether it’s a virtual world or not. A formal suit might be exaggerated though. In those cases the Academic is a perfect alternative.
The Academic by Cattiva e Cattivo is a middle-of-the-road blazer outfit. It looks professional enough to wear while teaching your students, but if you’re so inclined it also looks everyday enough that you can wear it at your home. In fact, I think certain combinations would even work in a dance club.
The outfit comes packed with choices. For 350 L$ you receive 8 shirts, 4 flexi ties, 4 blazers, 2 pairs of jeans with prim cuffs, 2 pairs of shoes, a pair of socks and a prim collar. This ensures that everyone can wear this outfit in the way they prefer. (more…)

When I was growing up, my mother always told me that there’s a difference between being a man and being a gentleman. As with so many things my mother told me, I’ve learned over time that this is true. I think it’s safe to say that this rule applies equally in Second Life. What makes one a gentleman? The term is usually associated today with a certain propriety and courtesy in one’s conduct, but historically also had connotations of belonging to a good family and perhaps even having the right connections. While I can’t help you with your manners or breeding, I can suggest some clothing and accessories without which no gentleman should venture into polite society. Feel free to take these necessarily specific recommendations and implement them more generally in your own gentlemanly pursuits.

Lissa Maertens was thoughtful enough to give me a shout recently when she added some new items to her menswear line at Cattivo. My personal favorite of the recent additions is this classic Bomber Jacket. The leather’s sheen suggests that it would feel supple and butter-soft, not rough or stiff. (more…)
