New: Camo tanks @ Brutal Gear

camo_tank_blue.jpgLately, my heart has gone out to Nex Brannan.  He suffered a computer meltdown and all the drama and fallout that go along with that particular tragedy.  My sympathy was immediate–there but for the grace of God go I–but this quickly transformed to empathy when my own PC crashed and burned.  Apparently the grace of God had failed me this time out.  Fortunately for all of us (and not least of all for himself), Nex has rebuilt, recovered, rebounded and released his first new designs Post-Crash, a set of camo-design tanks in four colors:  blue, green, grey and sand.  The colors are well chosen and allow you to dress with care while coordinating with “regular” wardrobe items, and the camo pattern is clear but subtle, definitely not “in your face.” (more…)

Grand Opening @ Brutal Gear [2]

brutal_gear_shop.jpgIt wasn’t easy, but Nex Brannan and I finally managed to coordinate our conflicting schedules well enough to have a little chat/Q&A earlier this week.  Nex has always been more than friendly and seems like one of the nicest guys in the virtual world.  I remember dropping in at his first small backroom store back in September–hey, I bought a pair of jeans!–and I’m pleased and excited to see his Brutal Gear line of men’s designs taking off and expanding.  The recent grand opening of his new shop is a sign not only of that creative growth but surely also of more great things to come. Grand Opening @ Brutal Gear [1]

brutalgear_snapshot_003.jpg

Last weekend Nex Brannan of Brutal Gear opened his first stand-alone store. Openings are always exciting and momentous because they are generally a step beyond renting out a cramped little shop space and a step towards being able to tailor one’s brand environment entirely, allowing for a wholistic shopping experience. The designer becomes the architect of every floorboard and fixture. As a customer, supporter, or friend you can’t wait to see what is rolled out next, because it’s a symbiotic journey. (more…)

New: Highwayman jackets @ Brutal Gear

brutalgear_snapshot_001.jpgThe wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding-
Riding-riding-
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door

When Alfred Noyes penned his romanic poem in 1906 he had no knowledge that over the centuries his iconic vision of independence and masculinity, the solitary wayfarer, would evolve from a plume-hatted equestrian gent with 3/4-length jacket into a surly tattoed badass riding 800 lbs. of forged metal wearing leather chaps. The leather waist-cut highwayman jacket is now the fashion signature for every Biker, Rocker and Oi Boy this side of paradise. With his recent release of The Highwayman leather jacket series Nex Brannan of Brutal Gear conjures images of James Dean and early Brando - the rebel longing for the open road and a life without responsibility.

New: Bomber Jackets @ Brutal Gear

Well after having been gone for quite some time, I have returned; and I couldn’t ask to return with a better product! Onebomberjackett2_001.jpg of my favorite designers, Nex Brannan of Brutal Gear (in fact he has definitely corrupted me, I don’t wear suits and ties nearly as much since shopping at Brutal Gear) has just today released an awesome bomber jacket! Like most of Nex’s designs I can’t say enough about the texture bomberjackett2_002.jpgwork! Nex has a way of getting just the right look out of his clothing, I love the realistic feel this jacket has.

If I have to state one issue I have with the jacket, it’s the prim collar; the texture work is still great, however the placement of the collar is a little off (as you can see in my picks), Nex said on his personal blog that he had some trouble with it and it shows, but not that much! With patches for the various clubs, squadrons, and other groups you have been a part of, this jacket is a (if I may say it) must have for your closet (or inventory). You can pick one up today in both black and brown at Nex’s store in DarkCity (Campanula: 82, 165, 501) at the very reasonable price of 200L$ per color!

New: Mechanic Shirts @ Brutal Gear

mechanicshirtcropped2_002.jpgI’ve bought several things from Nex Brannan at Brutal Gear and when I heard that he released a new product I had to run over and check it out. I’m commonly more of a traditionally dressed guy (with my suits and jackets) but every once in a while I need to let the “bad boy” out. Now while I don’t do it as much as some, Brutal Gear provides what I need for that “rough and tough” work day or when I feel like visiting Rausch.

Nex has a great feel for clothing, and his products have just the right touch of folds and highlights to give them that quality feel. Not only are his clothes fun to wear, but you have to mechanicshirtcropped_005.jpgcheck out his artistic touch. I have several of his other products and the decals on his clothing are excellent. These new shirts are no exception. They come in three colors, Blue, Black, and Brown; with three different options per color. You have the solid plain colored, and then you have two designs with some excellent “pinup” graphic work involved, and don’t let Elvis know you stole his shirt.

back_004.jpgThe creases and logos on the shirt and just the right touch for that dirty day working that parcel or under that car. Don’t forget to pick up some of his accessories while your there. The shirts sell at 200$L apiece and come with a jacket, undershirt, and back_007.jpgshirt layer version for your various outfit styles. They include rolled up prim sleeves that finish out the shirt just right. Oh, and here’s a little hint I found out by accident, these shirts on the Jacket layer look excellent layered with Nick’s Chrome Junkie T-Shirt on the undershirt layer (was wearing it by accident).

Well, have fun, and enjoy!

New Designer: Brutal Gear by Nex Brannan

Brutal Gear Outfit Brutal Gear Logo

I met Nex Brannan randomly a few weeks ago through a mutual friend. He was relatively new to Sl at the time and said he was working on learning to make clothing. I told him to let me know when he had some stuff to show, and a couple of days ago he dropped a bunch of stuff on me to check out. I wanted to hold off posting until he had a store set up so you can actully get the stuff. (more…)
