So what if, as the song says, the weather outside is frightful? I’m such a whore for sweaters and coats as it is, I barely need winter as an excuse. This month you get to benefit from my hedonistic accumulation of cold-weather wardrobe items, as I’m sharing some of my favorites, both old and new.
First up, an old favorite of mine. These Pea Coats by Donmai Frederick, released last winter, have classic lines and a beautiful wool fabric texture. The set includes coats in six colors: Beige, Black, Blue (as shown here), Brown, Gray and Green. A simple undershirt also adds shape and bulk to the coat, so you look like you’re layering properly for the cold weather, just like your mother told you. As if that weren’t enough, you also get four flexi scarves, plain and striped, in short and longer lengths. Undershirt and scarves are tintable, so you can customize to your heart’s content. I don’t run, either for health or for pleasure. Well, okay, I did the track-and-field thing in junior high, but that was, um, a few years ago. But I do think a handsome track jacket is the perfect antidote to mildly chilly weather that doesn’t actually require a heavy coat, and it can help a guy look really snappy. Designer Donmai Frederick of Back and Forth has released several great outerwear designs over the last several weeks, and his new track jackets live up to my admittedly high expectations. They feature a classic silver zipper, front slash pockets, ribbing at waist and cuffs, and turned-up prim collar. The set includes jackets in black, blue, brown, dark blue, red, and white, along with two shirts (in black and white) that you wear to give the jacket the proper shape–check out how the sleeves look slightly puffy until the cuffs pull in tight to the wrists. This is wonderful attention to detail that you don’t see everywhere, but Donmai’s design work is impeccable. (more…)

You may remember that several weeks back I reviewed some great jackets and jerseys from designer Donmai Frederick of Back and Forth. Since then I’ve kept an eye out for new release or “coming soon” updates, and this week I was rewarded! These beautiful men’s pea coats are just what we need to get through the winter months that loom ahead, chilly and brittle. The set includes coats (worn on the jacket layer) in beige, black, blue, brown, gray and green, as well as a shirt layer intended to be worn under the coat to give it the proper shape. This shirt is also tintable, so you can make it whatever color you like to provide some contrast. Also included are tintable plain and striped flexi scarves in short and long lengths, so you can accessorize to your heart’s content. I love the warm wool fabric texture, and I can almost feel the wide, nubby seams. The big round buttons are a nice touch that give the coat a long, clean line. (more…)

You know, it’s starting to get chilly in RL, at least in the evenings. I don’t know how often you find yourself visiting wintry areas in SL,but if you’re feeling the need to dress a bit more warmly, or just want to show off a snappy new jacket, designer Donmai Frederick has just released some jackets and jerseys you’ll want to check out. All of these are unisex designs, so these are great for the girls as well as the guys–and I know you’re out there! 
Up first is the Suede Jacket, which features an excellent suede texture and clever prim collars for a variety of different looks. The contrasting side stripes give it a great sporty feel. Here you see me in the blue suede jacket with turned-up collar and the red suede jacket with rolled collar. I honestly can’t decide which look I like better. Forunately, I don’t have to.
The suede jacket comes in blue, black, blue & black, green and red, with matching prim collars for male and female avatars and rolled prim collars in small, medium and large sizes, so you can find the best fit for your avatar. Also included aresimple shirts in black and white for layering under the jackets. Individual jackets are priced at L$98. The full set of all five colors is just L$300. (more…)
