Men's Second Style

Having featured such a wealth of formal suits over the last few weeks, I found myself really jonesing for some simple, straight-up but stylish casual designs. I found what I wanted, deep deep down, at Kaydence Genezzia’s KREW. In the shop you’ll find a fairly small but worthwhile selection of shirts, sweaters, hoodies and the like—unfortunately there are no jeans or pants, at least not yet. But I mean that as hopeful encouragement and not as a complaint, as the tops I picked up and tried on are all handsome and well executed. Here are a few of my favorites.

I suppose there’s nothing here we haven’t seen before, but it’s done so well that I can’t help but love it. The Tee With Belt is a simple, even classic henley with sculpted sleeves and bottom hem. The hem sculpt realistically rides up over a partially visible belt and buckle. The shirt is provided on every possible garment layer, so you can layer it with a coat, jacket or what have you. We all remember preppie. Some of us may have been preppie (I’m not naming any names…Rhys…but you know who you are). Kaydence’s  Sweater with Shirt Under gives preppie a brush-up with a look that’s all but carelessly thrown together, yet not at all thoughtless. That is surely not an easy task when everything has to be done with such deliberation. The sweater’s rolled collar (with integrated shirt collar), shirt cuffs and sweater hem with escaping shirttail are all carefully sculpted. Another classic look done very well. This Denim Button-down Shirt is as elaborately tricked out as many jackets I’ve seen. In fact, you could easily wear it as a light jacket and look just great. Sculpted add-ons include collar, cuffs, button-flap chest pockets and a bottom section that can be worn open or closed. The shirt comes on every garment layer and can be worn with or without an integrated white tee. L$100 each in various colors; Brown is shown here.

What wardrobe is complete without a hoodie? Certainly not mine. Along with tees, they may get something of a bum rap, but what else are you going to throw on when it’s a rainy Saturday and you just want to go get some quick tacos for lunch? This one has a nicely sculpted hood, rumply sleeves and a sheeny fabric texture. You can choose to wear either a neat, trim “regular” front pouch pocket or a sculpted baggy hem attachment. L$100 each in various colors; Navy is shown here.
