Blogger Style Throwdown: Snow Day Tag Team under 5500L (vs. Nicolas Sinatra and Dahlia Eilde)

That’s right, the throwdown is back! As I told you last week, we’ve got twice as many people this time around for a tag team throwdown. I’m up against Nicolas Sinatra and Dahlia Eilde of the couples fashion blog, Bonnie & Clyde. Both are experienced models, currently employed by Nex-Core Model Management. On top of that, Bonnie & Clyde is one of the first couples fashion blogs for Second Life, so they have plenty of experience working together. I’ll be teaming up with my lovely wifey, TheDiva Rockin, Chief of the SL Fashion Police, and hoping we can keep pace with em.

Our theme is “Snow day.” Why’s that? Because a good portion of the Northern Hemisphere has experienced snow in the past few weeks. Basically, its too cold for me go outside. Luckily, SL lets us play in the snow without the cold, the wet, the mushy, and the soggy.

It’s a win-win for everyone.

Lepus nivae. This species strikes fear in the hearts of most other species they share their habitat with. At this time of year, despite their natural ability to adapt to the cold climate, snow bunnies leave the comfort of their shelter rarely to wander to social gatherings, where they establish relative pecking orders and exchange knowledge of the local wildlife. So what a surprise it is to come across this fine specimen, sitting outside and enjoying the snow around her.

Winter Wildlife Snow Bunny

But, look, over there.. it seems a foolhardy Puer stultus has crept up on our snow bunny, surely seeking to attack her with a snow ball as he hides behind snowmen. While stealthy and sly, he is clearly overenthusiastic. He has forgotten to scoop up a snowball on his way and is hurriedly attempting to create one before the snow bunny leaves.

Winter Wildlife Puer

Unfortunately, his hastiness will prove to be his downfall. She, in an uncharacteristic show of dominance, has decided not to ignore him but instead sneak up on him to make an example of him. Stealthily approaching from the other side of the snowmen, he only realizes she has approached when it too late.

Winter Wildlife Stealthy Attack

Due to the universal rating of this program, we are unable to show you the carnage that ensued. After a rapid flurry of snowballs and shrieks of terror and pain, the snow settles and it evident that the poor boy had clearly been outclassed. The snow bunny emerges victorious, sitting confidently on his motionless body. She has taught him a life lesson that he will surely remember for a long while.

Nicolas Sinatra & Dahlia Eilde – Winter Thowdown

Nicolas and I have heard horror stories about the “theme wheel” and in all honesty we were a bit apprehensive as to what the spinning hand of fate would deliver. So, when we caught word that our theme was ‘Snow Day’ we breathed a collective sigh of relief. Snow is definitely one thing we have experience with, and while it was tempting to recreate the “Everyone Nose” video, we figured we’d stick to the more family friendly meaning of the word, snow.

Snow days just aren’t the same when you’re an adult. All of a sudden it means a driveway to shovel, or a wasted day on a looming deadline, such a far cry from the freedom and jubilee of the coveted day off from school. So, in honor of the true meaning of snow day, we’ve decided to approach this challenge through the eyes of a child and really everything is more fun that way isn’t it?

A snow day doesn’t mean sleeping in, a snow day means you need to squeeze more playtime in to less daylight! Though we hate to cover up our Armidi underthings, we’re quick to bundle up in preparation for snow-filled boots and frosty eyelashes.

DAHLNICWINTERTHROWDOWN2.png

You know when the snow falls and it’s just a little bit sticky? Perfect for snowforts, snowmen, and of course, snowballs.. the latter being the favourite of these kids at heart. Luckily I’ve got the upper hand this round. Crouching won’t save you Nic, and it’s about high time you learn you can’t beat a Canadian in a snowball fight. SPLAT!

DAHLNICWINTERTHROWDOWN3.png

What better way to blow the snow from your face than aboard a classic wooden toboggan? GT SnowRacers and fancy inner tubes need not apply. If you’re going to rock the snow day, rock it old school. Just make sure to watch those tuuuuurns!

DAHLNICWINTERTHROWDOWN4.png

Feeling a bit peckish after our horrifying/exhilarating ride, we decided to find some stumps for perching and some bread for munching – gotta love those deep pockets. But lo and behold, we aren’t the only ones enjoying the snow day. The curious deer were left wondering where we had come from while we simply wondered if they might want some crusts to eat. They may not be ducks, but a snow day will make just about anything hungry!

DAHLNICWINTERTHROWDOWN5.png

Now full and satisfied we make the journey back inside, secretly hoping the snow will keep falling well in to the night only to greet us and our toboggan again tomorrow. A snow day is a surefire guarantee for a good night’s sleep, and the best prelude to that is a sit in front of the fire with some hot cocoa and the one you love. Childsplay can only go so far and it’s a safe bet any activities from this point on will be adult in every sense – hey, you can’t blame us for wanting a happy ending ;)
So, we will say our adieus and wish you the joy of a snow day, come rain or shine.
