New: Holiday formalwear @ Blaze*

holiday_tux_jacket_silver.jpgAre you still searching for something perfect to wear to a New Year’s Eve party?  Look no further.  Not brand new, but new for this holiday season, designer Blaze Columbia has released Holiday Tux Jackets in Royal Maroon, Royal Green and Silver.  The lapels are accented with glittery highlights for some holiday glamour, and a prim boutonniere made of rose and poinsettia flowers is included (but not pictured here).  I wore the Maroon and Green jackets to various Christmas parties, but the Silver is perfect for ringing in the New Year!

These jackets are based on Blaze’s Regal Tux, just released in October.  The Regal Tux features a longer jacket than Blaze’s original Classic Tux, as well as shawl lapels.  The extra length on the jacket adds greatly to this tux’s presence, and the satin stripe on the pants has a beautiful shine that really sells the realism.  Here I am wearing the Holiday Tux Jacket in Silver with Wing Tip Shirt and Vest also in Silver.  Additional shirt/vest combinations are available in a wide variety of colors, so you can customize to get the perfect look.

The Holiday Tux is available for L$600, or in a pack with all three jackets for L$1000.  Holiday Tux Jackets only (if you already have the tux) are L$300 each, or L$500 for a pack of all three colors.  Available at Blaze Fine Fashions (Triumph 100, 137, 251).

New: Men’s pea coats @ Back and Forth

pea_coat_green_short_striped_scarf.jpgYou may remember that several weeks back I reviewed some great jackets and jerseys from designer Donmai Frederick of Back and Forth.  Since then I’ve kept an eye out for new release or “coming soon” updates, and this week I was rewarded!  These beautiful men’s pea coats are just what we need to get through the winter months that loom ahead, chilly and brittle.  The set includes coats (worn on the jacket layer) in beige, black, blue, brown, gray and green, as well as a shirt layer intended to be worn under the coat to give it the proper shape.  This shirt is also tintable, so you can make it whatever color you like to provide some contrast.  Also included are tintable plain and striped flexi scarves in short and long lengths, so you can accessorize to your heart’s content.  I love the warm wool fabric texture, and I can almost feel the wide, nubby seams.  The big round buttons are a nice touch that give the coat a long, clean line. New: Men’s hair @ Naughty Designs

gabriel_left.jpgSometimes it seems like I switch every few days from one Naughty Designs hairstyle to another, with the occasional other designer thrown in for good measure.  Now, that’s not actually true as there are a lot of hair designers whose work I love.  (What is most likely true in actual fact is that I’m usually wearing my favorite new style, by whatever designer.)  But it is also true that Lost Thereian of Naughty Designs has been putting out one gorgeous hairstyle after another in the last several weeks.  This style, called “Gabriel,” was just released along with Lost’s new skin for men by the same name.  It is available in 45 different colors including, I was very glad to see, some true reds!  This makes me very happy.  :D  You can buy “Gabriel” in packs of three colors in the same family for L$300, or all 45 colors for L$2000. New: Work Shirts @ Little Rebel Designs

lucky_corrosion.jpgJonquille Noir of Little Rebel Designs continues to please with a great selection of work shirts for us guys.  Do ya feel lucky, punk?  I sure do when I’m wearing shirts as well designed as these.  “Lucky” comes in six colors:  Corrosion (pictured at left), Garage, Plasma (pictured below), Toxic, Oil and Trash.

lucky_plasma.jpgAs always, I love Jonquille’s photoreal fabric textures, which she uses more effectively than most.  These untucked shirts are worn on the jacket layer for extra length.  The fit gives the appearance of being a little snug, with just a bit of a tug at the top fastened button.  It’s nice to see all that working out paying off.  :D  The name patch, clearly not yours (or is it?) is a nice touch.  These are perfect for a lazy Saturday working on your old Mustang…or cleaning out the attic.

These shirts and many more great items are available at Little Rebel Designs (Gallinas 151, 93, 58).  Jonquille’s usual accessible prices apply–all tops are just L$50, jeans and pants are L$100.  (When I was there last night, I noticed several sets of hot-looking retro panel shirts, the sets priced at L$50 to L$100–just L$25 per shirt! I’m hoping to do a review post for these too, but with the holidays and all…who knows?  Check them out for yourself!)  Menswear is at the top of the left staircase in the store, and new items are on the left wall as you enter the men’s section.

New(ish): Tube socks @ SiniStyle Design

tube_red.jpgOh my God, you’re thinking.  I know you are.  Socks.  Why is he reviewing socks?  What, you never got socks for Christmas?  ;)  Socks are kind of an interesting beast in SL.  By that I mean mostly that there aren’t many around.  The only socks I have are some tube-style socks I got at American Apparel, a few pair that came included with shoes I bought (a trend I wish more designers would adopt, there’s your hint for the week), and a few pair that I…shudder…made myself.  You’re probably in the same situation.  Or maybe you’re one of those guys who, as Nick pointed out earlier, don’t bother to wear socks.  Maybe that’s just because you don’t have any.  Well, now you have no excuse.  Krius Misfit of SiniStyle Design recently released a collection of socks that, trust me, you can’t live without. New: Men’s hair @ Here Comes Trouble

heartbreaker_front.jpgWhat’s more fun than new hair?  Well, I mean, without getting naked.  Here Comes Trouble designer Bailey Mackenzie says that this new style, called “Heartbreaker,” was “inspired by some hot boy’s pic I happened to keep running across in a Google search.”

heartbreaker_right.jpgI have no idea who that might be, but this style kind of reminds me of Milo Ventimiglia in “Heroes.”  (I read in an interview that he hates the long bangs he keeps having to brush out of his eyes every time he moves.  He says he wants to shave his head, but the producers won’t let him.)  My partner took one look and said, “Emo boy.”  Long pause.  “Not that emo boys aren’t cute.”  That felt like too little, too late, but I’m going to let it slide because of my holiday spirit and all.  ;)

New: “City Walk” Dress Shoes @ Shiny Things

citywalkblack.jpgI went to check out Fallingwater Cellardoor’s new sim, Shiny Falls, on it’s opening day a short while ago, and was talking with her when she asked me if I had any ideas on what kind of men’s shoes she should odo next.  I immediately thought “dress shoes” - something I can wear with a suit, but also with jeans or khakis.  Well, just a few days later she started sending me prototypes and now, here they are

Beautifully crafted of course from the undisputable queen of SL shoes, with just the right amount of shine and raised seams to give them a more defined formal look.  The shiny silver buckle adds a slightly edgy touch, but is still elegant to wear with your best suits.

I also hinted to her that she should include some matching socks to go with these as a public service, since I see so many of you fellas out there with out socks on, and that hideous flesh color on the bottom of your pants.

Updated: These are out now, available in black and brown.  They are available on her new sim, Shiny Things at Shiny Falls.

New: Boa scarf @ Gritty Kitty

boa_front.jpgJust in time for the first day of winter, Noam Sprocket of Gritty Kitty gives us this fun scarf that’s whimsical as well as practical.  Who would have thought that a snake around your neck would help you to keep warm?  The textures on this bad boy are so realistic, he reminds me of a sock monkey–and you can name him whatever you want.  He has button eyes and a flexi tail that bounces around realistically when you walk or move.  But wait, there’s more!  He’s menu scripted, too, so when you touch him you can choose fom nine different color patterns.  It’s like buying one scarf and getting nine.  I’m going to list the colors just because they’re so much fun:  Dead, Camo, Painted, Exotic, Aquatic, Poisonous, Slinky, Slimey, and Slimier.  Only two of the color combos are pictured here; I would tell you which ones, but honestly I’ve forgotten already. Black & Silver Tuxedo by MIA

mt2.jpgFor the next installment in my review of formal wear for the holidays, I’m tackling not just one tuxedo, but eighteen! Technically, I’m only modeling one of them, but Ayla Holt of MIA has created a whole line of classic tuxedos in both black and white versions, with vests and ties in a large assortment of colors. You see me here wearing the black tuxedo with silver vest and bow tie.

This is a very well-done and detailed set with lots of pieces allowing various options. The core of the set is a combined jacket, vest, shirt and bow tie, all on the jacket layer, with matching black pants. But the set also contains two separate traditional tux shirts, one on the jacket layer and one on the shirt layer, and a separate tux jacket also, allowing the set to be worn without the vest and tie. What the set doesn’t contain is a separate vest and bow tie, which would allow you to wear the set without the jacket. If you really want this option, it’s available separately as the “Evening Vest and Pants” package at the MIA main store for $150L. (more…)

New: Casual shoes @ GearShift

relics.jpgDonovan Brennen of GearShift has just released a great-looking casual running shoe that he calls “Relics casual.”  The REDX version, which you see here, comes in brown with red detailing; other Relics designs are in the works.  Donovan’s intent here is a sporty casual shoe that doesn’t fall into the Converse family, and I think he has succeeded admirably.  The textures are highly detailed and extremely realistic.  These are some snappy shoes!  Not to mention really comfortable–I wore them all of yesterday evning, and my feet feel great.  ;)

These shoes are sized for men, and No Mod so they can’t be re-sized, but a women’s version is on the way.  Available for L$300 at GearShift at The Block (Endicott 162, 72, 506).  Demos are available in the shop so you can try them on before buying. (more…)

New: Men’s casuals @ Simone! Design

striped_sweater_jacket.jpgIf you haven’t yet seen any of Simone Stern’s new styles for men, it’s time for a quick trip over to Simone! Design.  She has some fun casual outfits at great prices that won’t wreck your budget!  My personal favorite is this sweater and jacket set, which comes with striped and plain sweaters, black jacket, and jeans.  The set actually comes with two pairs of jeans, one marked “plain” and another marked “striped.”  Why is this, you may wonder?  This is because Simone has done something really clever.  The sweaters are worn on the shirt layer, which ordinarily would mean it looks like the sweater is tucked into your pants.  However, the jeans in this set include an extension of the sweater pattern at the top.  This means you can get the look of wearing a long jacket-style sweater under the jacket!  I live for stuff like this.  :D  It also means that you can’t really pair these jeans with other tops you may have, but at these prices I consider that a non-issue. Free! Xmas tee @ FORM Gear

skullflake.jpgZabitan Assia of FORM Gear has a special holiday gift for you.  The Skullflake Tee features Zab’s usual great fabric textures and slinky fit, plus cool holiday artwork that upon closer inspection…is kinda creepy.  And it’s free!  Just drop by the Xmas tree at The Block, just outside the FORM Gear store–you’ll know it, it’s the kind of goth Charlie Brown looking tree stuck in a burning barrel.  There’s a FORM ornament hanging from the tree which you can pay L$0 and the shirt will be given to you.  The shirt comes in both short/tucked (shirt layer) and long/untucked (jacket layer) versions.  This item is No Transfer, so you can’t give it as a gift yourself, but you can send your friends by to pick it up for themselves.

Be sure to check out the packages under the tree, as they too are gifts for you from other designers at The Block.  Also, take some time to visit FORM Gear and the other great shops while you’re there.  You’re bound to have a little holiday shopping left to do, and now is the perfect time to support these and your other favorite designers.  From my conversations with SL designers over the last few months, it’s clear that for many of them their design work is as much a labor of love as it is a business venture.  Show them a little love in return!  Isn’t that what the holidays are all about?  ;)

Available at FORM Gear (Endicott 196, 56, 507).

New: Retro shirts @ Moonshine

cocktails.jpgA little while back I reviewed some great, simple sweaters by Shelly Toonie of Moonshine.  Since then, she has continued to release a handful of new men’s designs every week or so.  This time out, she caught my eye with this collection of retro styled shirts.  These feature a strong two-tone design with nice detailing and eye-catching graphics.  The Cocktail design I’m wearing here reminds me somewhat of a shirt I have in RL that’s always a big hit at cocktail parties.  Too bad I can’t bring Shelly’s shirts with me into RL and further increase my popularity.  ;)  Oh well–I can always just serve more drinks.

These slick vintage designs happily press our nostalgia buttons while still feeling fresh and new.  And vertical stripes and blocking are always slimming, so everybody wins! (more…)

New: Mistletoe for Men @ Extraordinaire

mistletoe_for_men.jpgYou may have been nice all year, but Lollypop Extraordinaire knows you really wanted to be naughty.  Her new holiday ensemble is perfect for a Christmas Eve or Christmas morning surprise!  “Mistletoe for Men” includes a “Kiss Me Under the Mistletoe” tank tee, boxers, Santa hat, prim mistletoe attachment, and mistletoe kiss animation as a wearable attachment.  The boxers and hats are included in both red and green, so you can mix them up for different looks.  The mistletoe cleverly attaches by default in an especially naughty location–very appropriate, all things considered.  The hat attaches to the chin, so it won’t displace your prim hair, although you may have fun finding a hairstyle that won’t poke through the hat.  (Your best bet might be wearing a skin that includes hair as part of the skin texture.)  The white fur trimming the hat is somewhat flexi for a fun effect.

Available for L$275 for the whole set at Extraordinaire (Extraordinaire 143, 180, 23).  Also available in a version for the ladies!

New: Men’s rings @ Mhaijik Things

gold_3_band_earth_quartz.jpgI first fell in love with Mhaijik Guillaume’s jewelry designs when I discovered her line of men’s necklaces, way back in September.  (That review is still available here; look for “Mhaijik Guillaume” under the Designers category in the right-hand sidebar.)  I raved then about her design work that is so beautiful but still simple and clean.  Her new men’s rings are a perfect addition to her collection.  When I dropped by the recently redesigned “Guillaume por homme” section of her shop that’s exclusively for men, Mhaijik happened to be there and we chatted for a bit.  She mentioned that the rings started out as a custom design by commission.  She then became enthralled with the idea of designing more rings.  I love the Gold 3 Band Ring with Earth Quartz, shown at left, for its gorgeous two-tone shiny gold and its lovely, simple stone. New: Western/Rockabilly shirts @ SiniStyle Design

six_shooter_rolled.jpgAny time Krius Misfit of SiniStyle Design puts out anything new, I take notice.  Even so, I was dubious of his new “Western/Rockabilly” shirts as I seem to have some sort of allergy to all things country-western.  My friends will tell you I don’t even like country music.  But it’s Krius, and I think his trench coats are some of the most gorgeous things I’ve worn in SL, so I figured I’d take a look.  It’s the least I could do.  And how glad am I that I did?  Let me count the ways!  The new “Six-Shooter” and “Cr8zy” button-down shirts are such great designs that I want to weep.  I won’t, though, because I’m a big boy now.

Both shirts come in tucked and untucked versions (worn on the shirt and jacket layers, respectively) and with both long and rolled-up sleeves, so you can get a variety of different looks.  Here you see me in “Six-Shooter” with rolled sleeves.  Hmm, might be time to renew that gym membership.  ;)  The killer for me, though, is the prim cuffs–they’re awesome!  At first I found myself frustrated when trying to fit them properly (hey, it was late and I was tired), but I calmed down, slowed down, took a deep breath, and then it was fine.  I love the way the cuffs give some real snap and professional finish to the shirts. New: Lightning by MIA

lt1.jpgAyla Holt of MIA has created a new ensemble for those of you who favor black leather coats. And just in case you aren’t sure if you like a waist-length sports jacket, an ankle-length trenchcoat, or something in between, the Lightning set includes three different coat lengths! All three coats have the same upper jacket layer, with three different skirt layers to make the different coats. Also included in the set is a pair of black pants and a black long-sleeved t-shirt with a lightning design in purple.

lt4.jpgThis set is seriously dark, but not so dark that all of the details are lost in the blackness. The lapels on the coat are very nicely shaded, and the fly and button on the pants are finely detailed. And the t-shirt has purple piping around the collar, a very subtle but nice touch that complements the detailed fractal lightning bolt. All three skirt layers mesh nicely with the jacket layer. This is a very versatile set; the pieces can easily be worn separately with other outfits. (more…)

Oxford Morning Suit by SF Design

oms1.jpgHigh on my list of nice problems to have is “too many options”. Sometimes a designer creates several different variations on a theme, and it’s hard to choose which one of the many options you like best. Such is the case with the Oxford Morning Suit from SF Design, the next installment in my survey of formal wear for the holidays. swaffette Firefly has made this outfit in a number of color choices, and it was hard to pick just one. I was torn between the one with the black jacket and charcoal gray pants with gold vest (pictured here) and a variation with black jacket and pants with blood-red vest and tie. But since I already have several black-and-red suits in my wardrobe, I decided to go with the gold vest. No sense getting stuck in a rut.

oms3.jpgThe set contains pants, jacket (with lower jacket on the skirt layer), gold vest (on the shirt layer) and white shirt with gold tie (on the undershirt layer). The design of this suit is outstanding, and the workmanship is top-notch. Check out the crisp pinstripes on the pants, the realistic shading of the wrinkles, and the detailing of the vest buttons - the bottom vest button is left undone, a subtle but nice touch. (more…)

Hana Tattoo @ Form

FormHanaTat.jpgI am trying my hand at CS2 so let me know if you like this picture or if I should just stick to the plain white background. I’ll let the readers decide!

Am I the only one who logs in to SL thinking ‘I wonder if Zab released a new tat today?’ lol. Well yesterday my prayers were answered! I know a lot of you are thinking, yeah he makes the greatest tattoos ever but I cant afford $1500. Well my friends, you dont have to. Even though it is a limited release, it comes with a not so limiting price tag, just L$500! Even all you kids who rely on camping for your income can afford that price… but you better get busy cause time is running out.

When I first seen the advert for Hana I was a little weary of the jacket-style, but after putting it on, I think it is absolutely amazing! The detail and shading on this thing absolutely blew me away. You really do have to see it in person to appreciate how well it is crafted.
It comes in two different styles, with or without the kanji down the middle. Personally I think the kanji down the middle sets it off, but believe it or not, not everyone thinks exactly like me. I know, its hard to believe, but I will leave it up to you to decide which you love better but one thing is for certain, you are going to love it!!
forums_HanaTattooAd.jpg

Some thoughts from the designer:

“It’s a more traditional Yakuza jacket-style tattoo. Comes with and without the kanji down the middle. I tried to keep it unisexy, so hopefully it’ll appeal to both guys and gals. Undershirt layers only, and not compatible with the Henkei tatts. Please try the demo before you buy. Mod/Copy/No Trans, so no refunds. This is a limited release and special price, so get it before it’s gone!”

New: Tees @ Miau Haus

red_griffon.jpgI don’t review t-shirts very often, because frankly I think good tees are few and far between, and rare is the occasion when I find new tees that are worth not only your money but mine.  ;)  This is one of those occasions!  Designer Posy Trudeau of Miau Haus has come up with some really hip, fun tees that feature gorgeous artwork, a clean design and beautiful colors.  Each also comes with two optional long-sleeve undershirts (both white, one clean and one somewhat grubby-looking), so for each shirt you actually get three different looks.

At left is the Red Griffon tee, worn without the optional undershirt.  As things turned out, I ended up modeling only the clean version–not by design, just luck of the draw.  (Actually, I was having trouble with clothing changes, having to relog each time.)  The “dirty” tees look subtly grungy but not actually nasty…it’s a good thing. New: Denim jackets @ Threads By Chlo!

brooklyn_jacket.jpgChloris Hathor of Threads By Chlo! makes some of my favorite men’s jeans in SL.  The muted colors, the detailed hand-drawn artwork, the quality construction–all bring her jeans right to the top of my list (and my inventory).  Now she has released jackets in denim textures that match all her men’s jeans, so you can pair up without fear of mis-matched colors or textures, unless of course the contrast is something you’re going for on purpose.

Here you see me in the Brooklyn Denim Jacket With Shirt andďż˝the matching Brooklyn Jeans.  (On this piece, the shirt is included on the jacket layer with the denim jacket, but see below for more.)  Also included is a shirt you can wear under the jacket to make the fit baggier, a clever trick Chlo also uses with her layered polos.  I love the great faded look Chlo has given to the fabric, and the collar, seam, pocket and snap detailing is all beautifully done. New @ [Renegade]: Petrified Work Boots

RSoul_BlackPetrifiedWorkBoots.jpg The Block in Endicott has taken SL mens fashion by storm. So many hot designers hold up shop there that I could probably never blog from any other place again and still not have the time to blog everything that I like. The latest designer with a blast of hawt releases is Kaejo DaSilva of [Renegade].

It has not been to long ago when the selection of mens fashion in SL was so scarce that designers did not have to worry about how well the clothing was crafted to be successful. All that has changed and it has become a lot harder to burst on the scene and become an instant force in the mens fashion world. In my opinion, Kaejo DaSilva of [Renegade] is one of those designers! Since his very first release, he has blessed SL with one hawt release after another!

His latest release comes in the form of Petrified Work Boots. If you have read my previous blogs you know that I am in to the beat up and filthy look so I love these boots! You would never be able to tell these Petrified Work Boots is his first release of foot wear. They are perfectly crafted and I love the textures. The look just beat up enough to compliment your grunge wear but not over done, so you can wear them with your casual attire as well.

You have your choice of the black or brown but at the reasonable price of L$249, You will probably want to get them both. While you are there, don’t forget to check out the rest of the line… you will see why I became an instant fan of [Renegade].
