Are you still searching for something perfect to wear to a New Year’s Eve party? Look no further. Not brand new, but new for this holiday season, designer Blaze Columbia has released Holiday Tux Jackets in Royal Maroon, Royal Green and Silver. The lapels are accented with glittery highlights for some holiday glamour, and a prim boutonniere made of rose and poinsettia flowers is included (but not pictured here). I wore the Maroon and Green jackets to various Christmas parties, but the Silver is perfect for ringing in the New Year!
These jackets are based on Blaze’s Regal Tux, just released in October. The Regal Tux features a longer jacket than Blaze’s original Classic Tux, as well as shawl lapels. The extra length on the jacket adds greatly to this tux’s presence, and the satin stripe on the pants has a beautiful shine that really sells the realism. Here I am wearing the Holiday Tux Jacket in Silver with Wing Tip Shirt and Vest also in Silver. Additional shirt/vest combinations are available in a wide variety of colors, so you can customize to get the perfect look.
The Holiday Tux is available for L$600, or in a pack with all three jackets for L$1000. Holiday Tux Jackets only (if you already have the tux) are L$300 each, or L$500 for a pack of all three colors. Available at Blaze Fine Fashions (Triumph 100, 137, 251).
You may remember that several weeks back I reviewed some great jackets and jerseys from designer Donmai Frederick of Back and Forth. Since then I’ve kept an eye out for new release or “coming soon” updates, and this week I was rewarded! These beautiful men’s pea coats are just what we need to get through the winter months that loom ahead, chilly and brittle. The set includes coats (worn on the jacket layer) in beige, black, blue, brown, gray and green, as well as a shirt layer intended to be worn under the coat to give it the proper shape. This shirt is also tintable, so you can make it whatever color you like to provide some contrast. Also included are tintable plain and striped flexi scarves in short and long lengths, so you can accessorize to your heart’s content. I love the warm wool fabric texture, and I can almost feel the wide, nubby seams. The big round buttons are a nice touch that give the coat a long, clean line. Sometimes it seems like I switch every few days from one Naughty Designs hairstyle to another, with the occasional other designer thrown in for good measure. Now, that’s not actually true as there are a lot of hair designers whose work I love. (What is most likely true in actual fact is that I’m usually wearing my favorite new style, by whatever designer.) But it is also true that Lost Thereian of Naughty Designs has been putting out one gorgeous hairstyle after another in the last several weeks. This style, called “Gabriel,” was just released along with Lost’s new skin for men by the same name. It is available in 45 different colors including, I was very glad to see, some true reds! This makes me very happy.
You can buy “Gabriel” in packs of three colors in the same family for L$300, or all 45 colors for L$2000. Read the rest of this entry »
Jonquille Noir of Little Rebel Designs continues to please with a great selection of work shirts for us guys. Do ya feel lucky, punk? I sure do when I’m wearing shirts as well designed as these. “Lucky” comes in six colors: Corrosion (pictured at left), Garage, Plasma (pictured below), Toxic, Oil and Trash.
As always, I love Jonquille’s photoreal fabric textures, which she uses more effectively than most. These untucked shirts are worn on the jacket layer for extra length. The fit gives the appearance of being a little snug, with just a bit of a tug at the top fastened button. It’s nice to see all that working out paying off.
The name patch, clearly not yours (or is it?) is a nice touch. These are perfect for a lazy Saturday working on your old Mustang…or cleaning out the attic.
These shirts and many more great items are available at Little Rebel Designs (Gallinas 151, 93, 58). Jonquille’s usual accessible prices apply–all tops are just L$50, jeans and pants are L$100. (When I was there last night, I noticed several sets of hot-looking retro panel shirts, the sets priced at L$50 to L$100–just L$25 per shirt! I’m hoping to do a review post for these too, but with the holidays and all…who knows? Check them out for yourself!) Menswear is at the top of the left staircase in the store, and new items are on the left wall as you enter the men’s section.
Oh my God, you’re thinking. I know you are. Socks. Why is he reviewing socks? What, you never got socks for Christmas?
Socks are kind of an interesting beast in SL. By that I mean mostly that there aren’t many around. The only socks I have are some tube-style socks I got at American Apparel, a few pair that came included with shoes I bought (a trend I wish more designers would adopt, there’s your hint for the week), and a few pair that I…shudder…made myself. You’re probably in the same situation. Or maybe you’re one of those guys who, as Nick pointed out earlier, don’t bother to wear socks. Maybe that’s just because you don’t have any. Well, now you have no excuse. Krius Misfit of SiniStyle Design recently released a collection of socks that, trust me, you can’t live without. Read the rest of this entry »
What’s more fun than new hair? Well, I mean, without getting naked. Here Comes Trouble designer Bailey Mackenzie says that this new style, called “Heartbreaker,” was “inspired by some hot boy’s pic I happened to keep running across in a Google search.”
I have no idea who that might be, but this style kind of reminds me of Milo Ventimiglia in “Heroes.” (I read in an interview that he hates the long bangs he keeps having to brush out of his eyes every time he moves. He says he wants to shave his head, but the producers won’t let him.) My partner took one look and said, “Emo boy.” Long pause. “Not that emo boys aren’t cute.” That felt like too little, too late, but I’m going to let it slide because of my holiday spirit and all.

I went to check out Fallingwater Cellardoor’s new sim, Shiny Falls, on it’s opening day a short while ago, and was talking with her when she asked me if I had any ideas on what kind of men’s shoes she should odo next. I immediately thought “dress shoes” – something I can wear with a suit, but also with jeans or khakis. Well, just a few days later she started sending me prototypes and now, here they are.
Beautifully crafted of course from the undisputable queen of SL shoes, with just the right amount of shine and raised seams to give them a more defined formal look. The shiny silver buckle adds a slightly edgy touch, but is still elegant to wear with your best suits.
I also hinted to her that she should include some matching socks to go with these as a public service, since I see so many of you fellas out there with out socks on, and that hideous flesh color on the bottom of your pants.
Updated: These are out now, available in black and brown. They are available on her new sim, Shiny Things at Shiny Falls.
Just in time for the first day of winter, Noam Sprocket of Gritty Kitty gives us this fun scarf that’s whimsical as well as practical. Who would have thought that a snake around your neck would help you to keep warm? The textures on this bad boy are so realistic, he reminds me of a sock monkey–and you can name him whatever you want. He has button eyes and a flexi tail that bounces around realistically when you walk or move. But wait, there’s more! He’s menu scripted, too, so when you touch him you can choose fom nine different color patterns. It’s like buying one scarf and getting nine. I’m going to list the colors just because they’re so much fun: Dead, Camo, Painted, Exotic, Aquatic, Poisonous, Slinky, Slimey, and Slimier. Only two of the color combos are pictured here; I would tell you which ones, but honestly I’ve forgotten already. Read the rest of this entry »
For the next installment in my review of formal wear for the holidays, I’m tackling not just one tuxedo, but eighteen! Technically, I’m only modeling one of them, but Ayla Holt of MIA has created a whole line of classic tuxedos in both black and white versions, with vests and ties in a large assortment of colors. You see me here wearing the black tuxedo with silver vest and bow tie.
This is a very well-done and detailed set with lots of pieces allowing various options. The core of the set is a combined jacket, vest, shirt and bow tie, all on the jacket layer, with matching black pants. But the set also contains two separate traditional tux shirts, one on the jacket layer and one on the shirt layer, and a separate tux jacket also, allowing the set to be worn without the vest and tie. What the set doesn’t contain is a separate vest and bow tie, which would allow you to wear the set without the jacket. If you really want this option, it’s available separately as the “Evening Vest and Pants” package at the MIA main store for $150L. Read the rest of this entry »
Donovan Brennen of GearShift has just released a great-looking casual running shoe that he calls “Relics casual.” The REDX version, which you see here, comes in brown with red detailing; other Relics designs are in the works. Donovan’s intent here is a sporty casual shoe that doesn’t fall into the Converse family, and I think he has succeeded admirably. The textures are highly detailed and extremely realistic. These are some snappy shoes! Not to mention really comfortable–I wore them all of yesterday evning, and my feet feel great.
These shoes are sized for men, and No Mod so they can’t be re-sized, but a women’s version is on the way. Available for L$300 at GearShift at The Block (Endicott 162, 72, 506). Demos are available in the shop so you can try them on before buying. Read the rest of this entry »
